Chapter 146 Extra : I Accept

Chapter 146 Extra : I Accept

Arc Final : Unpromising

Huang Dan and Chen Yue got off the plane in the early morning in the local time, which was just evening in China, and it was time to take a shower and go to bed.

There is a thin layer of mist floating in the air, and the temperature is a little higher than that of City C, but it is still within the range of winter. Taking a few more breaths can have a refreshing effect.

The extremely beautiful yet heroic Oriental people attracted the passengers’ sidelong glances and made them stop to look at them, without any malice, but simply out of appreciation.

Perhaps because the people were good-looking and the scenery in the early morning was beautiful, some passengers could not help but pick up the SLR cameras in front of their chests and snap a few photos, forever freezing the image of the Oriental man sitting on the suitcase with his eyelids half-closed.

Chen Yue came over after hanging up the phone, frowned and glanced at the people staring at his wife, feeling disgusted, “Let’s go.”

Huang Dan raised his eyelids, and his eyes were a little red. He didn’t get a good rest on the plane. The twin sisters behind him were so lively. They sang and danced, and they were all very active.

Chen Yue didn’t rest either. He was under more pressure than Huang Dan, but he didn’t show it on his face, “Not leaving? Are you going to sit here and wait for the sun to rise?”

Huang Dan stood up and loosened the scarf around his neck, “Can you see that I’m nervous?”

Chen Yue took two steps back and pretended to look him up and down. He said seriously, “I can’t tell at all.” When people are nervous, they can’t hide it. In fact, anyone who is not blind can see it.

Huang Dan breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Huang Dan like this, Chen Yue didn’t know what to say for a moment, so he rubbed his hair, silently comforting him.

Huang Dan said, “I’m afraid your parents won’t like me.”

Chen Yue said how could it be possible? He told Huang Dan, “Look, my parents love me, and I love you. There is no way they won’t like you.”

Huang Dan was almost convinced by his theory.

Chen Yue said that the car was coming. He picked up the suitcase with one hand and pulled Huang Dan with the other. He walked through the crowd with long legs and approached there.

As soon as he got in the car, Chen Yue called home and said that they had arrived and were on their way back.

Father Chen on the other end didn’t waste any time and said something very informative, “Son, let me tell you, your mom got up early and prepared breakfast for you. It’s because of you that I get to eat the steamed buns she made herself. She also rolled the dough by herself. The last time I ate them was more than ten or twenty years ago.”

Speaking of this, Father Chen still felt a little aggrieved. In previous years, whenever he said he wanted to eat, his wife would give him money to go out and buy it, but she just refused to cook it himself, thinking it was troublesome and time-consuming, and saying that it didn’t matter if it was bought outside.

Having left his hometown and unable to buy anything, Father Chen thought that he should at least cook it himself. But the wife said that there was bread at home and he could just have a few bites. It was not nice for him to be picky about food at his age.

This time, Father Chen didn’t say a word. His wife didn’t mind the trouble or say it was too much effort, nor did she ask him to help. She did the whole thing by herself.

This phone call put Chen Yue in a good mood. He held Huang Dan’s hand on his leg and said, “My mother has made breakfast for you before she even meets you. If she meets you, I guarantee she will fall in love with you at first sight, just like I did back then.”

Huang Dan said, “It’s too early for you to be happy.”

Chen Yue stroked Huang Dan’s fingers and said softly, “It’s not too early. We are getting married soon, and you are my bride.”

Huang Dan’s face was slightly hot, “Stop talking.”

Chen Yue laughed muffledly, “Are you shy? It’s okay, the driver can’t understand Chinese.”

The driver couldn’t understand, but he could see it. However, he was not surprised and didn’t think there was anything strange about two men leaning against each other with their fingers interlocked. Homosexual relationships were also very common.

In the second half, Chen Yue was browsing his phone and squeezing Huang Dan’s hand, revealing his inner impatience. He wanted to take him home quickly, introduce his parents to him, and introduce him to his parents.

The three most important people in life will soon meet. This is a very important day.

Huang Dan was infected by Chen Yue’s eagerness. He took his gaze away from the scenery outside the car window, turned his head and said, “Are we almost there?”

Chen Yue looked at his watch, then checked the road conditions. He said they were almost there, “Are you hungry? How about eating something first? There are biscuits and yogurt in my bag. Wait, I’ll get them for you.”

Huang Dan couldn’t stop him. A bag of chocolate biscuits and some yogurt were stuffed into his hands. He took a sip of yogurt and ate a piece of biscuit. His empty stomach felt a little better.

Chen Yue saw him handing him half the bag of biscuits and asked, “Don’t want to eat more?”

Huang Shan said, “I can’t eat too much. When I get to your house later, I will have breakfast cooked by Ayi.”

Chen Yue laughed out loud and rubbed his shoulder against Huang Dan, “You heard what my dad said on the phone, right? This time he and I are both benefiting from you. Really, no matter how long I am away on a business trip, my mom never takes it seriously.”

Huang Dan also smiled, “Really?”

Chen Yue said of course, “Let me tell you this, as I get older and older, my mother becomes lazier and lazier. If my father doesn’t mop the floor, then no one will mop the floor at home.”

Huang Dan glanced at him, “What about you?”

Chen Yue touched his nose and said, “Unfortunately, I’m like my mother.”

Huang Dan,“……”

“This is what I think, if my family doesn’t hire a maid, then I will do it, and if they hire a maid, then the maid will do it.”

Chen Yue ate two biscuits, bit the straw that Huang Dan had used and took a sip of yogurt. Seeing him looking at his phone, he moved his face towards him, “Who is it?”

Huang Dan said it was Song Min, “He wanted to go into the study to find a book and send me a text message to inform.”

Chen Yue asked strangely, “Didn’t he go in before?”

Huang Dan put the phone back into his coat pocket and said, “Go in, but he has never touched the books on the shelf without permission in these years.”

Chen Yue sneered, “Silly boy, you don’t have much time at home. If he turns it over and puts it back, you don’t know.”

Huang Dan frowned, “That’s right, the drawings I put in the book are gone.”

Chen Yue swallowed the milk in his mouth and asked, “What drawing?”

Huang Dan said, “It’s the little figures you drew for me back then. I drew an extra picture of you on each one.”

Chen Yue was stunned, “When did it happen?”

Huang Dan said, “Didn’t I go back to the past? At that time, I always knew that you liked me, and I liked you too, but I just couldn’t say that. I missed you during the Chinese New Year in my freshman year of high school, so I drew those pictures with a pen.”

Chen Yue frowned, “Why didn’t you tell me about such a big thing?”

Huang Dan was stunned, “Is it a big deal?”

Chen Yue thought to himself, great! I didn’t know you liked me so much and even drew a picture of me. He asked with a stern face, “Did you cry when you rejected me?”

A trace of memories flashed through Huang Dan’s eyes, and he nodded, “Yeah, it’s not good.”

Chen Yue half-closed his eyes and looked at his hand. He asked in a hoarse voice, “What about the drawings? Can you still find it? You went back to the past to draw it. Maybe because of some changes, the corresponding position in the future has also changed.”

Huang Dan said, “If that’s the case, it should still be in the study.”

Chen Yue sighed, “We have to look for it carefully when we go back. If I find it, I have to put it in the safe.”

Huang Dan said, “If you like, I can draw you often.”

Chen Yue looked straight at Huang Dan, just like when he sat in the last row and looked at him, “Don’t say that, people can be greedy. I’m afraid that I will want you to draw one for me every day.”

Huang Dan said it was okay, “It won’t be easy to draw when I get old.”

Chen Yue’s throat rolled, “You’re not even thirty yet, what are you talking about old or not?”

Huang Dan said, “It will be here soon. Everyone will grow old and die, and I am no exception.”

The veins on Chen Yue’s forehead jumped. He didn’t want to hear anything, but this person insisted, “I find that you can easily make me so angry that my stomach hurts.”

Huang Dan frowned, “Do you have a stomachache?”

Chen Yue took advantage of the situation and let out an ouch, “It hurts.”

Huang Dan saw that the place the other party pressed seemed to be his stomach, “Where is your stomach?”

Chen Yue said, “It’s where it should be.”

Huang Dan’s mouth twitched slightly, “Don’t make trouble. If you have a stomachache, you must tell me.”

Chen Yue probed calmly, “What will you do?”

Huang Dan said, “We need to analyze each case specifically. If you feel pain, tell me how it hurts, and then I will tell you what to do.”

“……”

Chen Yue laughed. He had never won against this person. Wasn’t he smart? No way, his IQ is over 100 anyway.

After much deliberation, Chen Yue couldn’t think of a reason, so just let him be, he was happy anyway.

The car stopped amidst Huang Dan’s random thoughts, and arrived.

After Huang Dan got out of the car and looked at the scenery in front of him, he had an indescribable feeling.

Chen Yue said, “They moved here two years ago. They said it’s a good place, comfortable and not noisy.”

Huang Dan closed his eyes and breathed. He smelled the fragrance of flowers, “It’s very good.”

Chen Yue said, “Our home is better.”

The town at this point is extremely quiet. It looks like a painting whether viewed from near or far. Walking into it, you become a person in the painting.

Huang Dan followed Chen Yue through an alley, and then another. There were small houses on both sides, and many pots of unnamed flowers were placed in front of the doors. Some grew out of the cracks in the rocks, with tender green leaves, full of vitality.

Winter is not over yet, but spring has already forced its way in.

After a flat path, there are stairs. At the next intersection, there are stairs again.

Huang Dan sighed and was about to ask which household it was when he noticed that Chen Yue had stopped walking. He looked up and saw a middle-aged couple standing in front of a house not far away.

Both Father Chen and Mother Chen have come from bitter days of life. Even though their lives are better now, they still dress simply. They just dress in a way that makes them comfortable and have nothing to do with elegance and luxury.

Those who don’t know the situation might think that their son doesn’t make much money, but you can see some signs when you go into his house.

Chen Yue whispered, “How about it? I was right, wasn’t I? My parents are stunned.”

Huang Dan walked over and called politely, “Shushu, Ayi.”

Father Chen nudged his wife, who was still in a daze, and said to the young man, “You must be exhausted from catching the plane, and there is still jet lag.”

Huang Dan said it was okay.

Father Chen glared at his son and said, “Let’s go home first.”

Mother Chen stopped Father Chen, “Wait a minute, do you think the person your son brought back looks familiar?”

Father Chen muttered, “When you say that, it seems true. Where have we seen him before?”

Mother Chen thought for a long time but didn’t remember, “He has a very good temperament.” This thing cannot be faked.

Father Chen agreed, “Yeah.”

Mother Chen said, “When that child stood next to my son, I actually felt that my son was not worthy of him.”

Father Chen said, “Me too……”

Mother Chen interrupted him, “Does he look like that student……the one who was in the newspaper?”

Father Chen only thought of it after she reminded him, “It’s strange. After so many years, why hasn’t the child changed much?”

“It’s probably hereditary. Some people don’t look old.”

Mother Chen thought for a moment and said, “Old Chen, then it is our son who brought disaster to others?”

Father Chen didn’t answer but asked, “What do you think?”

Mother Chen slapped him on the arm, “I’m almost mad to death now, I can’t think of anything!”

Father Chen gently patted his wife on the back and reassured her, “The child has grown up, and children and grandchildren will have their own blessings. What’s the point of being angry? Besides, it’s not you who will suffer the consequences.”

Mother Chen’s face darkened. “Stay away from me. Don’t think I don’t know you’re busy on both sides. I’m telling you, surname Chen, you’d better figure out which side you’re on. If you’re on the wrong side, we’ll never be done!”

Father Chen looked innocent, “I only found out about my son bringing someone back yesterday. I have the same attitude as you. Our family must sit together and have a good chat about this matter. ”

Mother Chen looked at him and smiled without giving him a good look, “Go on, continue acting yourself.”

Father Chen put his hand into his sleeve and felt aggrieved, “What did I act myself?”

Mother Chen was too lazy to pay attention this time.

As soon as his wife left, Father Chen sighed alone at the door, “Son, your father, I risked my life for your happiness this time.”

Father Chen sniffed, “It’s so cold.”

He walked quickly into the house and said to the two people standing under the eaves, “What are you doing standing there? Go wash your hands and have breakfast.”

Huang Dan asked, “Where do you wash your hands?”

Chen Yue took Huang Dan to the bathroom and rubbed his hands with soap, “How do you feel about meeting my parents? Are you not nervous anymore?”

Huang Dan said, “I’m even more nervous.”

Chen Yue kissed him on the face and said, “It’s okay, I’m here.”

When Huang Dan and Chen Yue went to the living room, breakfast was already on the table, and the dishes and chopsticks were also there.

Father Chen said kindly, “Sit down, the buns are freshly baked, eat them while they are hot.”

Huang Dan glanced at Mother Chen, who never paid any attention to him, and sat down next to her.

Mother Chen did not respond, and Father Chen exchanged glances with son Chen Yue.

Not sure why, but when they saw Huang Dan’s actions, they both thought of the same thing, and a few words popped up in their minds at the same time – capture the leader first.

Chen Yue picked up a plump white bun and blew on it, then took a bite and began to praise, “Mom, you are still as good as ever.”

Mother Chen said there are several kinds of bun fillings, “Can you tell what they taste like?”

Chen Yue’s mouth was full of the taste of beef and cabbage, “The taste of love, right, Huang Dan.”

Huang Dan said, “I haven’t eaten yet.”

Chen Yue’s eyes twitched. What do you mean by pig teammates? This is it.

Huang Dan felt that Chen Yue was the pig teammate. From the moment he sat down at the table, the old couple kept their eyes on him. He didn’t even take a bite of the food. If he responded, wouldn’t that be making fun of the old couple?

Father Chen kept coughing, which was an old habit. He would cough at any time or place.

Seeing that her husband’s face turned red from coughing, Mother Chen turned her face to the ground at the table and coughed. She didn’t go outside. The young man next to her did not show any expression of disgust or aversion, which made her think more.

At times like this, the younger generation will feel more or less dirty.

Mother Chen was thinking about something, and something suddenly sounded in her ears, “Shushu, do you want some water?”

Before she could speak, she heard the young man say again, “Ayi, which one is Shushu’s cup? I’ll go get him some water.”

Mother Chen said to her son, “Go and get water for your dad.”

Chen Yue said, “Huang Dan is close to the coffee table.”

Mother Chen glared at him, and he put down the bowl and chopsticks and stood up, “I’ll go, I’ll go.”

Father Chen’s throat was dry, and the more he coughed, the more itchy he became. He took a few sips of water to calm down.

The coughing disappeared and the dinner table became quiet again.

Chen Yue drank two bowls of porridge, “Mom, don’t keep peeking at him like this, he won’t be able to eat well.”

Mother Chen’s old face was instantly embarrassed. She really did it and felt guilty, so she couldn’t come up with an excuse.

Father Chen quickly changed the subject, otherwise his wife would be embarrassed, “Son, go get your dad a bowl of porridge.”

It took less than two minutes for Chen Yue to go back and forth, for fear that Huang Dan would be wronged.

The buns were specially steamed for Huang Dan, and this was a tacit knowledge. He could usually only eat two, but today he ate one more and said with a smile that it was delicious.

The old couple can tell whether the junior is lying or telling the truth.

Although Chen’s mother didn’t smile, her expression was no longer so stern. You shouldn’t hit a smiling person, especially a young man whose temperament was incompatible with the family and who was impeccable in every way.

After breakfast, Chen Yue brought Huang Dan into the room and said, “You should sleep for a while.”

Huang Dan couldn’t sleep.

Chen Yue said seriously, “You don’t look very good now, and you have dark circles under your eyes. I suggest you take a nap.”

Huang Dan took off his coat and pants, went to bed, and fell asleep soon after.

Chen Yue didn’t go out. He moved a chair over and sat down, with his legs on the bed, looking as if he was determined to defend to the end.

When Father Chen and Mother Chen outside the window saw their son acting like this, they remembered the scene of an old hen guarding her chicks, exactly the same.

Father Chen knocked on the window twice and called his son to come out.

Chen Yue smoothed his hair, took a cigarette and a lighter and walked out of the room. The old couple were waiting in the living room.

Mother Chen spoke first, “What does he do?”

Chen Yue took out a cigarette and clicked on the cigarette case, “Architect, draw pictures.”

Father Chen blurted out, “Isn’t that a waste of brainpower?”

Chen Yue said, “He worked hard to draw a picture, and if the customer is not satisfied, he has to make changes until the customer is satisfied.”

Father Chen seemed to be touched, “That can’t be helped. Some clients are laymen who don’t understand design at all. They are just nouveau riche with nothing but money.”

Chen Yue threw the lighter on the table and said, “No, Dad, why did you look at me when you talked about nouveau riche?”

Mother Chen said before her husband, “You two, father and son, don’t let the topic go too far.”

Father Chen said, “The child has not gone astray and has always been excellent.”

Chen Yue curled his lips, “Yes, when he was in school, he didn’t go out to play. He studied hard every day and got full marks on the exams. He was a genius in everyone’s eyes. After graduation, he worked hard and didn’t give himself a holiday.”

Mother Chen concluded, “Someone else’s family’s son.”

Chen Yue,“……”

Father Chen wondered, “Son, you said he is the same age as you, but why does he look so much younger than you?”

Chen Yue babbled, “Isn’t this nonsense? I have been exposed to wind and sun before, and my skin has become rough.”

The old couple remained silent as they thought of the difficult years their son had endured.

Chen Yue cursed himself inwardly. He said jokingly, “It’s mainly because Huang Dan is good-looking, right, mom and dad?”

Mother Chen fiddled with the tea set on the table, “What’s the point of looking good? It can’t pass good genes into our family.”

She wiped her eyes and said, “I’m going to go into the room and lie down for a while. No one is allowed to come in and bother me.”

The father and son looked at each other and sighed.

Father Chen said, “Are you worried too?”

Chen Yue moved his gaze to the yard, “I’m worried. I want our family to be happy when we sit together.”

Father Chen thought for a moment and said, “I’ll go to the room to see your mother. She’s crying.”

Chen Yue said, “Dad, thank you.”

Father Chen pressed his shoulder and went into the room to coax his wife.

It was already noon when Huang Dan woke up. He didn’t see Chen Yue in the room, nor did he go out. Instead, he took out his cell phone to call the other party.

Chen Yue was pruning branches outside. When he saw the caller ID, he hurried back to his room, “Are you awake?”

Huang Dan was sitting on the bedside, his hair slightly messy, and there were red marks on the pillow on his face, which were patterned.

Chen Yue felt itchy at the sight. He closed the door with his backhand and was about to throw himself down when his father’s voice sounded outside the door.

“Time to eat!”

Chen Yue rubbed his forehead and thought, well, forget about doing anything at home.

After lunch, Father Chen called Chen Yue to the yard to chat.

Chen Yue twisted his neck back.

Father Chen sat down on a rattan chair and poured himself a cup of tea. “Don’t look at it. You don’t have X-ray vision. You can’t see it even if you break your neck.”

Chen Yue leaned back in his chair, arms folded across his chest, “Dad, what are you doing out in the yard in the middle of winter without the sun? Aren’t you cold?”

“This is the only season in the year where you can get some cold weather. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Father Chen blew away the steam floating on the tea, looking a bit frightened, “I told your story yesterday, and your mother was very frightened. She almost kicked me out of the house.”

Chen Yue’s face twitched, he could imagine the scene, “Didn’t I ask you to prob it first?”

Father Chen snorted, “Still probing? You came here today, but you just told me yesterday. Time is so tight, probing will only waste time. It’s better to be straightforward. Anyway, if you stick your head out, you will get hurt. If you hide your head, you will still get hurt.”

Chen Yue clicked his tongue, “Old ginger is still spicy.”

Father Chen’s eyes widened, “Don’t be garrulous in front of me. Don’t think I don’t know that you are secretly happy in your heart.”

Chen Yue also poured himself a cup of tea, “Okay, then I won’t be happy secretly, I will be happy openly, Dad, this time it’s all thanks to you.”

“I, your father, haven’t been so nervous in front of your mother in years. I couldn’t even speak straight. I was terrified. I was afraid that she would get upset and squat at the door, slapping her thighs and crying. You know, that scene is unbearable to watch.”

Father Chen let out a long sigh as he spoke, “Son, luckily your mother has a problem that is not too big or too small, that is, she is easily influenced by others. I talked to her a lot this morning, and it seems that she listened to me.”

After their son decided not to jump off a building, they no longer dared to interfere in their son’s emotional problems, for fear that something would happen to him again.

Chen Yue raised his head suddenly, “So mom agrees?”

Father Chen said, “Anyway, the worst-case scenario is what it is today, and it won’t get worse in the future.”

Chen Yue thanked his father. He knew it would be difficult to persuade his mother, so he let his father take the lead. After all, the couple had lived together for most of their lives and knew each other very well, so it would be easier to communicate.

Father Chen felt bad, “If you had only known him for a month or two, or a year or two, or three or five years, I, your father, would not say a word for you.”

It happened to be more than ten years, from childhood to adulthood, and the person is about to turn thirty. This span is too big. He has never given up all the way to this day. There is no way he can give up. Don’t count on it.

After a brief silence, Chen Yue put down his crossed legs and leaned his upper body forward, “Dad.”

When Father Chen saw his son like this, the alarm bells in his heart immediately rang loudly. He leaned back with the teacup in his hand and kept some distance, “Just tell me what you want to say. Don’t give me that.”

Chen Yue said, “You have to go to a place with my mom on the seventh day of next month. No, you have to go two days earlier and leave home on the fifth day.”

Father Chen frowned, “Why, you have arranged another trip for us? Cancel it and wait until after the New Year. When the weather is better, we can see flowers and other things.”

Chen Yue said, “It’s not a trip, it’s to attend the wedding of your son and daughter-in-law.”

Father Chen stood up in shock, the tea in his hand shook a few times and spilled a lot, “Wedding?”

Chen Yue pulled him back to the rattan chair and took his teacup away and placed it on the small wooden table. “Dad, keep your voice down. Don’t alarm my mom.”

Father Chen’s chest rose and fell, his old face looked very ugly. He nodded and said, “Act first, report later, right? Son, you are brave enough to use this trick.”

Chen Yue smiled and said, “Didn’t I inherit it from you, old man? Like father, like son, right?”

Father Chen was so angry that he couldn’t say a word for a long time. He never thought that his son would hold back such a trick, “Why didn’t you tell me all about it on the phone yesterday?”

“I’m afraid you won’t be able to bear it.”

Chen Yue patted the non-existent dust on his legs and said, “Actually, I have liked him for fourteen years and have been clinging to him. It is the so-called unrequited love, one-sided love. He was willing to be with me some time ago. He was the one who brought up the wedding. I couldn’t stop smiling at that time.”

Father Chen’s face was full of disbelief. He thought that the past ten years had belonged to his son and the child, but he didn’t know that it belonged to his son alone.

He held one end tightly, but the other end was empty. No matter how hard he tried, it was of no use.

Chen Yue said to himself, “Originally, I was thinking about how to better propose marriage to him, but I didn’t expect him to bring it up first. How can I not be happy? I feel at ease if it’s done sooner.”

Father Chen was filled with emotion. His son’s one-sided insistence left him speechless. He stood up and walked back and forth with his hands behind his back. Is this fate? If not fate, what else could it be?

“Son, are you sure your feelings for him haven’t changed? Are they still the same as they were at the beginning? What Dad meant is that marriage is very sacred and needs to be treated with caution. Don’t hurt yourself, let alone others.”

Chen Yue raised his eyebrows, “What else? I’m thirty, and I’m not a child. I know exactly what marriage means.”

Father Chen said carefully, “Son, don’t be unhappy to hear this, the more you can’t get something, the more you want it. But when you really get it, you’ll find that it’s just that simple.”

“There are exceptions.”

Chen Yue breathed a sigh of relief and crossed his fingers together, “There is also a saying that time can dilute everything. Is that what it says? It doesn’t work for me.”

Father Chen’s face was stern, “You shameless thing!”

The son has spent the best time for that child. It would be really sad if the other person still doesn’t want to be with him.

Chen Yue shrugged, not thinking it was a shameful thing, “Dad, please tell my mom about this. If you don’t want to, I’ll do it myself, but you’ll have to show up at that time, after all, you’re the head of the family.”

Father Chen kicked him gently and said, “Get out of here!”

Chen Yue stood up and said, “The surprise is unexpected. You need some time to digest it. I’ll go out to smoke a cigarette. Call me if you need anything.”

Father Chen stared at his son’s back as he walked out the door, and quietly prepared himself for the wedding. It would be on the 7th of next month, wasn’t that less than half a month away?

After craving for it for more than ten years, he finally got to eat it as if in a dream. He will definitely treat it as a treasure.

Father Chen sighed and said, “Well, the Chen family’s incense is gone.”

It’s over. This matter is hard to say. If it goes wrong, everyone will fall to the ground. Father Chen went to find his son outside the door, asked for a cigarette and squatted down to smoke.

The father and son were smoking, each with their own thoughts, and neither of them paid any attention to each other.

The atmosphere in the kitchen was neither good nor bad. Huang Dan rolled up his sweater sleeves, pursed his lips and said, “Ayi, can I help you wash the dishes?”

Mother Chen washed the dishes without saying anything.

Huang Dan stood by the sink and took the initiative to get a rag to wipe the soup bowl.

Mother Chen took the plate out of the rice water and put it aside, “You go out, I don’t need your help here.”

Huang Dan didn’t leave. He frowned and said, “Ayi, I have been without parents since I was a child. I don’t know how to get along with the older generation. I will learn. I will also let Chen Yue teach me. I will listen to everything he says.”

He was not a smooth talker, he spoke very little and was not good at expressing his emotions. This paragraph was unprecedented. He spoke incoherently but threw away all his concerns at the same time.

Mother Chen was silent for a long time before she spoke. Her voice was a little blurry amid the sound of dishes colliding, “Do you know what color shirt my son likes to wear?”

Huang Dan heard clearly at once, “Sky blue.”

Because he wore a white shirt in his freshman year of high school, Chen Yue bought a sky blue one to wear, which looked like a couple’s outfit. At that time, Chen Yue was very cautious even when showing his happiness, and did not dare to show it too obviously.

Mother Chen rinsed the plate under the faucet a few times, then took a dry rag and wiped it, “Then tell me, what does my son like to drink?”

Huang Dan said, “Milk.” Because he likes to drink it.

Mother Chen paused while wiping the dishes, and continued the next second, “Does my son like sour or sweet fruits?”

Huang Dan lowered his eyes and wiped the mouth of the bowl carefully, and said, “It’s sour.”

Because he likes to eat sweet food, Chen Yue doesn’t eat it. Over time, Chen Yue treats it as a habit and changes his taste unconsciously.

Mother Chen put the cleaned plate on the shelf and said, “My son has a Walkman, an old model from more than ten years ago. He cherishes it very much and often takes it out to listen to songs. Do you know what his favorite song is?”

Huang Dan said the song titles, “One is 《Simple Love》, one is《Sweet As Honey》, one is《I Only Care About You》, and one is《Fairy Tale》.”

There were four songs in total, and each of them was correct. Mother Chen was shocked. She turned around and faced the young man who was only slightly shorter than her son. Her lips trembled. She wanted to say something but didn’t know where to start.

Huang Dan spoke softly, his eyes slightly reddened, “Ayi, it’s not easy for Chen Yue and I to get to where we are today. We have lived as one person. No matter how many questions you ask, I can answer them. Please give him to me, and I will treat him well.”

Mother Chen cried.
