Chapter 61. An Armchair

While everyone was listening to DaShu in front explaining the origin of this abandoned village, Du Yan kept looking out the window.

Although he hadn’t seen any evil spirits yet, he still felt that this abandoned village looked very strange.

Although the houses were quite new, it gave Du Yan a feeling that only century-old houses can have.

Hmm? Du Yan opened the window and looked out slightly.

In these small residential buildings near the road in the village, people always want to do some small business. Therefore, most of the first floors were designed to look like stores and were equipped with rolling shutters.

The rolling shutter on the first floor of the building that just flashed past was not completely closed, leaving a gap of about half a meter.

Maybe the owner thought that everything in the house had been moved out, so it didn’t matter if the shutter was not closed properly.

Du Yan has good eyesight. At that moment, he almost saw clearly what was behind the door.

It was empty inside, without any furniture, which was as it should be. However, in the middle of the empty room, there was an armchair, the kind with exquisite carvings and ancient charm.

Du Yan frowned slightly, and when he wanted to take a closer look, the bus had already moved forward. He was a little worried and wanted to lean out to take another look but was pulled back by someone.

Du Yan turned around and saw Xiao Lang’s disapproving expression: “It’s dangerous for you to look like this.”

Du Yan also knew that his behavior was inappropriate and smiled: “Thank you, I was too focused.”

“The scenery here is pretty good. You can come here more often in the future.” Xiao Lang said.

Du Yan joked: “I don’t have that much money.”

“You can live in my house. Food and lodging are provided.” Xiao Lang answered naturally.

While the two were talking, the bus had already left the abandoned village and continued to move forward.

Unexpectedly, not too far into the journey, the bus drove into a village. They thought it was normal to pass through villages from time to time in this kind of area, but as they drove on, they felt something was wrong.

The houses around here were exactly the same as the village they just passed by.

Zhou Tian was originally sensitive and timid. She approached Wei Zizhe and said in a trembling voice: “Do you think this road looks familiar?”

Liang Fei rubbed his arms and said: “Zhou Tian, you are too timid. It is broad daylight now, even if there are any demons and monsters, they dare not come out to cause trouble.”

Wei Zizhe glared at him: “What nonsense are you talking about.”

Then, he patted Zhou Tian’s shoulder soothingly: “The houses in the villages are all pretty much like this, two-story buildings covered with tiles, they don’t look that different, don’t scare yourself.”

Zhou Tian’s emotions were finally calmed down, and the nearby village flashed by.

Unexpectedly, just a few minutes later, the bus drove into a village again.

Zhou Tian finally couldn’t help but speak again: “This is clearly the village we just passed by. Let’s not talk about the style of the houses, just the empty scene. It’s impossible for three villages to be like this!”

Liang Fei couldn’t sit still anymore. He rushed to the front of the bus and asked: “Sir, what on earth is going on? Isn’t this the third time you’ve been to this place?”

The driver repeated the same action and waved his hands, indicating that he could not talk while driving.

Liang Fei was helpless and had to go back to look for DaShu. DaShu seemed a little tired and lowered his head and lay on the handrail in front.

Liang Fei patted DaShu gently: “DaShu, sorry to bother you, but I have a question to ask.”

DaShu didn’t seem to be asleep. As soon as Liang Fei started talking, he raised his head.

Liang Fei screamed in fear, took several steps back, and fell down on the aisle of the bus.

Xu Yuan, who was standing by, quickly stood up and helped him up: “Are you okay?”

Xiao Lang asked: “What did you see? Making a fuss about nothing, don’t scare the driver while driving.”

Liang Fei raised his hand and pointed at the DaShu in the front seat, his fingers still trembling: “He, he, he…”

Xiao Lang saw that Liang Fei had not come up with any explanation for a long time, so he got up and walked to the front to see what was going on.

At first glance, Xiao Lang was almost scared out of his wits like Liang Fei.

DaShu sitting in the front row had a green face, cracked skin, and even mold-like spots on it.

Even in this rotten state, DaShu still smiled at Xiao Lang. His lips were almost rotten, and his bloody gums were exposed in this smile.

No matter how strong Xiao Lang’s mental strength was, he couldn’t help but take a few steps back after seeing this bizarre scene and bump into someone directly.

He looked back and found Du Yan standing behind him, trying to look over.

Xiao Lang subconsciously covered Du Yan’s eyes and said: “Don’t look.”

Unexpectedly, Du Yan was very calm. He took Xiao Lang’s hand, walked to the driver, and asked: “Sir, can we get off here?”

The driver didn’t say anything, just waved his hands.

Du Yan emphasized his tone and spoke again: “Excuse me, we want to get off here.”

The driver finally spoke. He glanced at Du Yan from the side. There was nothing strange about his expression, but his voice was a little too flat: “Are you sure you want to get off here? You won’t regret it?”

Du Yan looked at him and nodded affirmatively: “Yes, please, we will get off here.”

The driver didn’t say anything else, just nodded and slowed down.

The bus was completely silent. Xiao Lang and his companions did not dare to speak, and the other passengers were even more eerily quiet.

The bus slowly stopped, and Du Yan walked towards the door, ready to get off.

Tian Luo suddenly asked: “Are we really going to get off here? This village looks weird.”

Du Yan glanced at him, then looked at the others who looked a little hesitant, and said directly: “If you don’t get off the bus, then do you plan to stay in this bus forever and stay in this endless cycle? Maybe there will be some changes after getting off the bus.”

At this time, the driver had already opened the bus door.

Du Yan glanced at a few people again and then walked down without hesitation. Xiao Lang didn’t say anything and followed Du Yan closely.

In Xiao Lang’s dormitory, he was an invisible leader. Seeing Xiao Lang get off, Liang Fei and Xu Yuan followed without hesitation. Tian Luo hesitated for a while but still followed.

Although Zhou Tian was a little scared, she finally chose to get off the bus after being encouraged by Wei Zizhe and thinking of DaShu, who had frightened Liang Fei so much.

After everyone got off the bus, the bus closed its door without hesitation and drove away.

Xiao Lang looked up for some unknown reason, and it seemed as if he saw a hand holding the steering wheel through the bus window. It was no longer a normal hand but a skeleton.

The sunshine outside was still very good, but it didn’t feel warm at all when it was shining on people. It didn’t feel like the summer sun, but more like the decorative sun in winter.

Everyone stood by the road, looking at each other, still in a state of shock at what was happening before their eyes.

Xiao Lang was the calmest. He asked Du Yan: “What should we do now? Should we go out?”

Du Yan glanced at him and said, “If the bus couldn’t drive out, do you think you can walk out?”

For some reason, everyone felt that what Du Yan said in this situation was particularly convincing. Perhaps Du Yan himself was somewhat mysterious and unpredictable, and now that they encountered such a bizarre incident, he seemed very reliable.

Du Yan softened his tone and said soothingly: “Why don’t we go to these houses and take a look to see what’s wrong.”

In fact, Du Yan already had a goal in mind, the armchair he saw through the gap in the rolling shutter that was never closed tightly.

That style of armchair was exquisitely carved and worth a lot of money. It was impossible for the local villagers to leave such a valuable item behind.

Something must be wrong when things are out of the ordinary. Since the armchair is not furniture left behind by the villagers, the culprit that trapped them here and prevented them from leaving is most likely the chair.

Xiao Lang nodded: “I agree with Du Yan’s opinion. In this situation, no one can explain what is going on. It is better to take the initiative to find out and see what is going on.”

Tian Luo suggested: “Why don’t we split up and act separately, it will be faster.”

Du Yan glanced at him with a half-smile: “In this situation, it is better to act collectively, which is safer.”

Liang Fei nodded repeatedly in agreement: “That’s right, in the horror movies I’ve watched before, once people split up, something bad is bound to happen.”

Zhou Tian, who had remained quiet because of the shock, finally couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him: “That’s enough of you. Is it not scary enough now? Are you trying to scare us to death by saying such things?”

Xiao Lang realized that the situation would get out of control if he continued talking, so he made the final decision: “Let’s do this, everyone should act together so that we can take care of each other.”

Seeing that everyone agreed, Du Yan stopped talking nonsense and turned around, and walked towards the house. After taking a few steps, his arm was gently pulled.

Du Yan looked back and heard Xiao Lang whisper: “Follow me, don’t run around.”

Well, you are the protagonist, and you have the final say, Du Yan said in his heart, thinking that in the movie, all the events revolve around Xiao Lang.

This strange village did not appear in the movie. But every time he dreams, the plot changes a little because of Du Yan’s appearance. The current changes are not too strange.

Even so, the center of the dream world is still the person in front of him, and he can’t go wrong by following him.

Du Yan nodded, leaned close to Xiao Lang’s ear, and lowered his voice: “Just now in the bus, I saw that the rolling shutter of that house was not closed tightly. The things inside were quite strange, so I wanted to go over and take a look.”

Xiao Lang asked: “What is it?”

“An armchair.”

Xiao Lang was very surprised: “What’s so strange about the chair?”

Du Yan did not explain, but just said: “You will know when you go and see it.”
