Chapter 62. Who The Hell Are You?
Arc 3 : Supernatural Horror Movie Nightmare.
This village was neither big nor small. It was a long and narrow village that was completely laid out along the road. This was because the ancient village in front was developing tourism, and the villagers chose to build their houses on both sides of the road.
After walking along the road for about a few minutes, Du Yan saw the house that had just caught his attention.
There was nothing special about the appearance of the house. It was a typical two-story house with a cement open space in front for drying rice or parking. The outside of the house was covered with white and red tiles, which looked bright and beautiful.
Now, everyone was a little confused. Seeing Du Yan and Xiao Lang walking over without hesitation, and since the house looked normal from the outside, they followed them.
The first floor was designed to look like a storefront, and the rolling shutter was not closed tightly, leaving a gap of about half a meter. Perhaps because no one has lived there for a long time and because it faces the street, a thick layer of dust fell on the rolling shutter.
Looking in from the outside, it was completely pitch black inside, and nothing could be seen.
Xiao Lang asked in confusion: “Your eyesight is so good? You can see a chair from the bus even if it just flashes past.”
Du Yan smiled and said: “This matter actually has nothing to do with eyesight.”
Everyone stopped in front of this house, somewhat confused.
Liang Fei asked: “Is there something wrong with this house? It looks no different from the ones next to it.”
Du Yan explained: “I just saw it from the bus, and I felt that something was wrong inside.”
After saying this, he bent down to lift the shutter, and Xiao Lang also bent down to help.
The shutter may have not been used for a long time, and it was rusty and stuck, making it difficult to lift it up. When the boys standing nearby saw this, they all came up to help pull the shutter.
With a teeth-grinding creaking sound, the rolling shutter was finally fully opened.
The sunlight poured in recklessly from the open door, and the flying dust in the room was nowhere to be seen under the illumination of the light source. Almost everyone covered their noses with one hand and used the other hand to drive away the dust blowing in their faces.
The room was empty, with almost nothing inside. The floor was made of cement and was covered with thick dust. There was a photo hanging on the wall facing the door.
The black and white photo shows an old man wearing a black cotton hat, with cloudy eyes and no expression on his face. On the top of the photograph was a white silk flower hanging crookedly.
Anyone with some common sense would know at a glance that this was a posthumous photo. Under the photo, there was a tattered wooden incense table.
The scene in front of them seems a bit creepy. However, against the backdrop of the armchair in the center, the photo and the incense table were really nothing.
Even if the people present had little knowledge of these mysterious things, they could tell that something was wrong with this armchair.
The whole room looked a bit dirty and abandoned, as if no one had taken care of it for a long time. Only this armchair was out of place in the whole room.
The armchair was brand new, made of mahogany, and the backrest was a typical three-section partition decoration, carved with cloud and ruyi patterns, lifelike, and one can tell at first glance that it was worth a lot of money.
Let’s not talk about whether an average rural family would spend a lot of money to buy such an armchair. Even if it is placed here, it is extremely unreasonable.
The most important thing was that this kind of hollow carved chair was the easiest to collect dust, not to mention the whole room was full of dust. This armchair, however, was clean, and there was not even a speck of dust on the hollow areas.
Zhou Tian finally couldn’t help but tremble and said: “What’s wrong with this chair?”
Wei Zizhe comforted her softly: “Maybe this family comes here sometimes to do things and clean the chairs so that they can rest easily.”
Liang Fei said: “That’s not right. Look at the photo above. It’s covered in dust. It makes no sense for someone to come and clean the chair without also cleaning the photo of their ancestors.”
After Liang Fei said this, everyone felt even more horrified and took a few steps back unconsciously.
Du Yan did the opposite and walked directly into the room.
Xiao Lang reached out to hold him, but Du Yan turned around and looked at him, saying: “Since we’re here, why not take a good look at it?”
Xiao Lang had no choice but to follow him in. Du Yan did not go to see the armchair first but walked to the incense table.
There was a small incense burner on the incense table. The incense sticks inside have been burned down to only the wooden part. There was a white porcelain plate on each side of the incense burner. It was a common style in the market, nothing special.
A white porcelain plate contained some almost mummified fruits, and another plate contained peanuts and plastic-wrapped candies.
Du Yan picked up a candy and looked at it. There was no production date on the outer packaging. This kind of private house built near the road is so dusty that it can become as dirty as it is if no one cleans it for more than half a month.
Du Yan took another look at the photo hanging there but didn’t notice anything wrong. He turned around and walked towards the armchair. After taking a few steps, he heard Zhou Tian let out a frightened scream.
Du Yan paused and looked up, only to see that Zhou Tian had shrunk behind Wei Zizhe.
Liang Fei was frightened by her, but he didn’t find anything wrong, so he asked: “Zhou Tian, what’s wrong with you? A sudden shock can scare people to death, do you know?”
Zhou Tian didn’t even look at him but held Wei Zizhe’s arm tightly with one hand. She raised her left hand, pointed at the photo on the wall with trembling fingers, and said: “Just now, just now he smiled.”
When everyone heard this, their eyes all fell on the photo.
The old man in the photo still had wrinkles all over his face and wore a black hat. His eyes were cloudy, and his expression was stiff, no different from when they first came in.
Wei Zizhe looked at Zhou Tian and said soothingly: “You must have seen it wrong. The photo looks no different now than it did just now.”
Liang Fei nodded: “Yes, I looked at asap, and I really didn’t find anything unusual.”
Du Yan turned around and carefully examined the photo for a moment but still did not find any evil aura lingering on it.
Zhou Tian’s face turned pale, and she said confidently: “I was not mistaken. The person in the photo clearly smiled.”
Du Yan did not suspect that Zhou Tian was too frightened and saw it wrongly. Instead, he had another guess. Even though he did not feel that there was anything unusual about this village, the reason for all this was very clear.
Du Yan smiled at Zhou Tian soothingly and said: “It’s okay, don’t worry.”
Then he walked to the armchair again and stretched out his hand to touch it.
Xiao Lang felt something was wrong, so he quickly grabbed his hand and said: “Let me do it.”
Du Yan did not stop him and watched Xiao Lang carefully touch the back of the armchair.
He raised his head and said in a somewhat strange tone: “There is nothing wrong with it. It seems to be just an ordinary chair.”
Du Yan heard this and reached out again, so Xiao Lang did not stop him. His fingers happened to fall on those exquisite ruyi patterns, and he stroked them carefully, only to feel a little cold.
Other than that, it’s really just an ordinary chair.
Liang Fei’s emotions come and go quickly. He had basically forgotten the shocking scene on the bus just now, and he didn’t see the person smiling in the photo that Zhou Tian mentioned.
So he got bolder and walked in directly.
Du Yan thought that he just wanted to come in and confirm that the armchair was just an ordinary chair. Unexpectedly, Liang Fei came and sat on the armchair eagerly.
Fortunately, Xiao Lang acted quickly and grabbed him: “Liang Fei, what are you doing?”
Liang Fei suddenly came to his senses, took a few steps back, and said: “I don’t know why, but I suddenly wanted to sit on this chair. I can’t describe the feeling.”
At this time, Zhou Tian also spoke up: “By the way, when the photo just smiled at me, I seemed to hear someone telling me to sit on that chair. I originally thought it was an illusion because I was too scared, but now it seems that’s not the case.”
Du Yan looked at the panicked faces of the people standing at the door and then glanced at the armchair next to him. Then he said calmly: “Take it out and burn it.”
Xiao Lang was stunned and asked: “Ah? What did you say?”
Du Yan repeated: “Such a strange chair, let’s take it out and burn it.”
At this time, Tian Luo remembered the normal social rules. He said hesitantly: “This is a chair in someone else’s house. It would be inappropriate for us to just carry it out and burn it.”
Du Yan looked at him inexplicably and said: “Do you really think this is a real-world chair? Such a weird chair appeared in such a weird village, and that weird bus just now, how can you still naively think that we are still in a normal world?”
Du Yan’s appearance was originally somewhat gloomy, and his voice was cold. When he said these words, he had a half-smile on his face.
Even though he stood there motionless, the people standing at the door unconsciously took a step back in unison.
Liang Fei was outspoken and asked directly: “I think you are also quite strange. Who the hell are you?”
Du Yan saw this and knew that if he didn’t explain things clearly now, probably no one present except Xiao Lang would cooperate with the next step.
He thought about it, put the black backpack he always carried with him on the armchair, and started to take things out from it.
A group of people stared in astonishment as Du Yan took out a wooden dagger and some bottles and jars from his bag. What was going on? What were those things on the armchair? Were they props for filming?
