Chapter 96. Little Rascal

The person who came in was the homeroom teacher of Shi An and the little fat boy’s class. When Du Yan saw the expression on the little fat boy’s face, he knew that something was probably not right.

“Aunt… Teacher Liang.” The little fat boy almost cheered happily and ran to hide behind the female teacher.

Teacher Liang nodded perfunctorily to the dean, then turned her eyes to Shi An and began to scold him without demur: “Why is it you again? You’ve only been in school for two days, and you’re already causing trouble all day long! It was you yesterday too, still playing in school after dark, the security guard told me about it!”

The dean frowned, somewhat dissatisfied. However, Teacher Liang and the principal had an unclear relationship, and he did not want to offend the other party, so he spoke up to smooth things over: “Teacher Liang, this is what happened…”

After listening to what the dean said, Teacher Liang asked the little fat boy directly: “Xiao Wen, what exactly happened? We can’t let these bad kids deceive the dean.”

The little fat boy puffed up his chest proudly, pointed at Du Yan, and said: “They are the helpers that Shi An found. Shi An couldn’t beat me, so he found two wild kids from who no where to beat me. I was wiping the blackboard, and they came over and started beating me! And, they even stole my melon seeds!”

Teacher Liang directly said to the dean: “See, it was indeed Shi An who caused the trouble. Children like this need to be properly disciplined. Just call his parents over.”

When Shi An heard that he had to call his parents, he trembled, and his face turned slightly pale.

Du Yan was about to reach out to pull Shi An and tell him not to worry, but Zhang Jing patted him on the shoulder.

“Let’s deal with the current situation first.”

Du Yan heard Zhang Jing’s gentle reminder and thought it made sense.

He was not the kind of elementary school student who was speechless when he saw the teacher. He directly retorted: “Teacher Liang, even if we had a fight, you didn’t even ask what the cause of the fight was, and you just assumed that it was Shi An’s fault?”

This was probably the first time that a first-grade student dared to talk back to Teacher Liang, and her face immediately turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.

However, she thought of the dean standing next to her, and managed to suppress her anger and said: “If it’s not Shi An’s fault, then why is it always him who has problems? It was the same yesterday and today, and the other students are all fine.”

Du Yan folded his hands in front of his chest and raised his eyebrows: “Teacher Liang, what are you talking about? Right, blaming the victim. If you were bullied on the street, would you also think it was your fault?”

“You little rascal!” Teacher Liang’s eyebrows were raised, and she almost fell backward in anger.

Du Yan ignored her and continued: “Then I’ll tell you now. Shi An is my Didi. He stayed at school so late yesterday because that fat kid hid his schoolbag. What happened today was because I saw that he was not on duty and was making trouble and bullying Shi An. By the way, the evidence is still on the blackboard, and there are also those melon seed shells on the ground. Kids like him deserve to be beaten up.”

Teacher Liang was speechless and pointed at Du Yan: “You, you, you little rascal who only knows how to fight all day long. Your parents should teach you a lesson. Which class are you from? Call your parents over!”

Du Yan spread his hands and said: “Teacher, you can’t reason with me, so you start asking for parents. This is something that only kindergarten children do. Oh, by the way, I saw the little fat boy called you aunt just now? I was wondering why you were so protective of this little fat boy. It turns out there’s some shameful relationship behind it.”

“Pfft.” The dean at the side finally couldn’t help but almost laughed out loud. Although the kid didn’t mean it, he just hit Teacher Liang’s sore spot. If it weren’t for this job, he would have applauded on the spot.

Teacher Liang had probably never seen such a sharp-tongued child before and was so angry that she walked up to Du Yan and raised her hand.

Zhang Jing directly pulled Du Yan behind him to protect him, without saying anything, just staring at Teacher Liang.

Teacher Liang didn’t know why the look in this kid’s eyes was scary even though he was only seven years old. She subconsciously stopped for a moment.

The dean happened to react and stopped the impulsive Teacher Liang: “Teacher Liang, you are…”

Before the dean finished speaking, Zhang Jing spoke slowly: “Although your school is privately run, it is also under the jurisdiction of the Education Bureau. If a teacher hits a student, do you think you can continue to be a teacher if this matter is reported to the Education Bureau?”

It was the first time that Teacher Liang encountered elementary school students like Du Yan and Zhang Jing. One of them was so sharp-tongued that she wanted to tear his mouth off, while the other was as mature as an adult and even knew how to threaten her with the Education Bureau.

However, Teacher Liang was not the type to suffer a loss, and she directly retorted: “Oh, you are quite knowledgeable, little student, but the Education Bureau is not a place where you kids can go whenever you want, and no one will believe what you kids say.”

Zhang Jing said: “People don’t believe what we kids say, but it’s not certain if we ask our parents to make a phone call.”

Teacher Liang was finally choked up. She pointed at Zhang Jing and said: “You, little rascals like you, I am too lazy to argue with you. Let’s just forget about today’s matter. Don’t bother my Xiao Wen in the future. Otherwise, I won’t forgive you!”

After saying that, she left without greeting the dean and took the fat boy with her.

After the arrogant teacher Liang took the little fat boy away, the dean asked Du Yan and the other two to sit down in a gentle tone.

He also saw that Zhang Jing was a precocious child with some connections in his family, so he advised: “Little classmate, I advise you to find a way to change your Didi’s school. After all, this is a private school, and the Education Bureau can’t interfere too much. Teacher Liang is a stingy person. If she wants to take revenge on your Didi, you two won’t be able to keep guarding him forever.”

After leaving Shi An School, the three of them returned to the alley together.

When they reached the door of Zhang Jing’s house, Shi An suddenly said to Du Yan: “Can you wait a moment?”

Du Yan nodded and stopped at the door of Zhang Jing’s house. Zhang Jing was also quite surprised, so he also did not go in, but stood aside and waited for Shi An.

Not long after, Shi An ran out with a small box in his arms.

He handed the small box to Du Yan: “This is a thank you gift. Thank you for helping me vent my anger.”

Du Yan was stunned, took it and opened it, and found that it was filled with exquisitely packaged chocolates.

Shi An was a little embarrassed: “I know your family doesn’t need this, but Grandpa Du doesn’t seem to let you eat too much. You can find a place to hide this box, so you don’t have to worry about running out of chocolate when you want to eat.”

“I don’t…” Du Yan subconsciously refused.

“This is protection fee.”

Du Yan looked at Shi An’s shining eyes and expectant expression and was perfectly choked by his reason. But he always felt that it would be better not to accept the box of chocolates, as it seemed that some trouble would happen if he accepted it.

Just when Du Yan was in a dilemma, a hand reached out from the side, took the box from Du Yan’s hand, and threw it back into Shi An’s arms.

“He has totally done more harm than good today. What protection fee?” Zhang Jing glanced at Shi An with an unfriendly tone.

“Ah?” Shi An didn’t understand what Zhang Jing meant at all.

Du Yan understood immediately, and he said to Shi An directly: “Yes, this matter is not over yet, you go in first, and we can talk about the protection fee after the matter is over.”

Although Shi An was confused, he looked at Du Yan and Zhang Jing’s serious expressions and walked into the yard obediently holding the box of chocolates.

Shi An just closed the gate, and Du Yan, who was so high-spirited and confident just now, instantly became depressed.

He sat down on the stone steps at the door with his head down and looked up at Zhang Jing: “What should we do? It’s obvious that Teacher Liang is not a good person. Shi An will probably suffer even more in school in the future.”

Zhang Jing, however, folded his hands over his chest and sneered and said mockingly: “I told you not to go, you deserve it.”

Du Yan frowned: “Dude, it’s already this time, please stop making cynical remarks.”

Seeing that Zhang Jing was unmoved, he shook his head and said: “How about I go to Yeye and ask him to find a way to get Shi An into our school?”

Zhang Jing’s face turned even uglier when he heard this. He said: “What are you going to say? Say that you just went to Shi An’s school to fight and made Shi An unable to continue in school?”

When Du Yan heard this, he felt a little guilty. He envisioned the situation. Maybe his Yeye would be so mad that he would be punished by making a copy of 《The Analects of Confucius》 or something like that. And he would not be allowed to go out during the holidays until he finished copying it.

Thinking of this, Du Yan became even more depressed: “I really can’t let my Yeye know about this, but what can I do? I can’t just abandon Shi An and ignore this matter that I caused, right?”

Zhang Jing didn’t respond at all: “I advised you yesterday. There is no benefit in helping Shi An fight. You might as well spend some time teaching Shi An how to fight back.”

Du Yan retorted: “It’s better to wait for the sun to rise from the west than to wait for that weakling Shi An to learn how to fight.”

Zhang Jing was a bit disappointed: “Can you use your brain when doing things? Is there no other way to resist except fighting?”

Du Yan’s eyes flickered, and he said: “Yes, of course there are other ways.”

After saying that, he stood up and put his arm around Zhang Jing’s shoulders, leaning forward with a flattering smile: “Zhang Xiao Jing, we are good buddies. You have to help your buddy when he gets into trouble. Besides, Shi An is also our good friend.”

Zhang Jing looked disgusted, but he did not push Du Yan away. Instead, he said: “Shi An and I have a very ordinary relationship. Why should I help him?”

Du Yan was not discouraged and continued to play tricks: “Shi An is my XiaoDi. And the two of us are so close, like a family. Isn’t Shi An your XiaoDi then? How about doing me a favor? Otherwise, I would have to be reluctantly punished by Yeye for Shi An.”

Zhang Jing originally didn’t want to bring Shi An, a troublemaker, to his school, but after hearing what Du Yan said, he immediately changed his mind.

He thought about it and felt that he couldn’t agree to Du Yan’s request so easily, so he said: “Then if you agree to one condition, I will go to my baba and ask him to find a way to get Shi An to our school.”

The plot of the movie was still on the right track. Shi An finally became a classmate of Du Yan and Zhang Jin, and Du Yan also paid a painful price.

Because Zhang Jing put forward the conditions the day after Shi An became their classmate.

Zhang Jing’s condition was very simple, that was, Du Yan must accompany him to the hobby class after school every day.

At that time, Du Yan expressed strong opposition, saying that he had no interest in piano, chess, etc.

Zhang Jing was quite generous and agreed to let Du Yan attend his favorite hobby class, but he had to accompany him and go home together.

Therefore, under Zhang Jing’s condition, the little overlord of the alley finally officially withdrew from the historical stage.

Du Yan’s class time was changed from 3 pm to 6 pm, and he could only go home before dinner, so he could forget about going out and running around.

Basically, except for Saturdays and Sundays, Du Yan has no free time at all. No, even on Saturdays on weekends, he will be watched closely by the little old man named Zhang Jing.

Du Yan’s reckless childhood was tragically cut short. In the blink of an eye, Du Yan and the other two were promoted to junior high school together.
