Chapter 143. I Am His Baba
Arc 5 : Wasteland World Movie Nightmare.
After the preparations were completed, on the second night, Shen Heng first picked a patrol to knock out later and took Du Yan to the entrance of the underground laboratory.
The mechas guarding the entrance were a combat team of three mechas.
It was no effort for Shen Heng to defeat only three mechas. Before the three mechas could send back warning messages, Shen Heng had already cut off their energy supply and knocked them unconscious in the cockpit.
The directional communication time was every ten minutes. Shen Heng took advantage of the time when the guard mecha just finished communicating and knocked them down. This left the two of them with enough time to act.
Shen Heng started the elevator and led the two people into the underground laboratory. The next place they raided was the surveillance room. Before entering, Du Yan had already drawn the layout of the underground laboratory based on the memory fragments left in his mind for Shen Heng.
With Shen Heng’s speed, after knowing the terrain, he was able to move without anyone in sight. The guard in the surveillance room just discovered the unusual movement in the elevator and was about to contact someone to check when he was already under control.
As soon as the communication light in his hand came on, he met a pair of beautiful eyes.
Du Yan looked at the man and said slowly: “Do as I say…”
The communicator was connected, and a questioning voice came from the other end.
The guard picked up the communication equipment and said: “Sorry, misoperation. Everything is normal.”
After hearing this, the man, on the other side, cursed: “Don’t disturb us when we are resting, we still have to patrol tomorrow!”
Shen Heng was very sensitive to the sound coming from that direction and said: “We are lucky. Most of the people in their camp should have gone to bed.”
After the two of them took control of the monitoring room, they made their way to the camp. Shen Heng saw how powerful Du Yan’s mental control ability was at certain moments.
At least for these soldiers sleeping in their beds, even a missile exploding next to their ears would not wake them up.
After dealing with the defense forces of the underground laboratory, Du Yan took Shen Heng and walked directly to the only passage leading to the key area.
At the end of the passage was a heavy isolation door with a combination lock next to it. Even the mecha troops stationed outside did not know the password to open this door.
Shen Heng and Du Yan stopped in front of the door. Shen Heng looked at the door and said: “This door is a bit troublesome. It can be opened violently, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to control the force and damage the things inside.”
Du Yan was somewhat speechless about the Infected’s simple and rough way of doing things. He walked to the combination lock, raised his hand, and pressed the password: “You don’t need to put so much effort.”
Shen Heng was a little surprised to see Du Yan input a series of passwords without hesitation and asked: “How do you know the passwords here? Did you see it from the research institute’s data?”
Du Yan shook his head and said: “This password is not even in the institute’s files. It is only stored in the minds of every director of the institute. Now only Dr. Jin knows it.”
“As for how I know this, you’ll find out later. You’d better be mentally prepared.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Du Yan had just entered the last digit of the password, and the heavy alloy door opened.
When the door opened, Shen Heng subconsciously pulled Du Yan behind him to protect him.
This underground laboratory was very well maintained. Even though it was a pre-war building, there was no sound when the heavy alloy door opened.
Shen Heng felt that the structure inside looked familiar, and it was almost identical to the secret laboratory they had just discovered in the 135th Tribal settlement.
“How come the structure of the laboratory here is almost the same as that over there?”
Du Yan stood behind Shen Heng. Even though his vision was completely blocked by the tall figure in front of him, he could still guess what the structure was like inside.
What appeared in front of Shen Heng was definitely huge glass cylinders filled with nutrient solutions. The only difference was that the glass cylinders here should not be empty.
Du Yan walked out from behind Shen Heng and said: “Genetic research laboratories are almost all built like this, even… in the current First Research Institute, it is the same.”
The glass cylinders at the door were empty, so Shen Heng could remain calm for the time being. When he saw Du Yan walk in without hesitation, he hurriedly followed him.
“You little…”
Shen Heng didn’t finish his words, and he just froze there.
The scene before him was truly shocking. He stared blankly at the glass cylinder in front of him, then turned his neck stiffly and glanced at Du Yan, who was standing beside him.
“This, that is…”
Having lived in this wasteland world for a hundred years, Shen Heng has seen many strange things, but he has never been so shocked as now that his brain almost lost the ability to think.
The man floating in the glass column clearly looks exactly like Du Yan, but unlike Dr. Jin, the man floating in the nutrient solution, has no difference in every aspect of his face from Du Yan, except for age.
Shen Heng looked back at Du Yan’s still somewhat childish face and believed that in another twenty years, he would probably grow up to look like this person.
Du Yan walked forward and stepped on the electric ladder in front of the glass cylinder. With a push of his hand, the ladder raised him to the same height as the man inside.
“Du Yan!” Shen Heng was startled and tried to stop him.
Du Yan put his hand on the glass and looked back at Shen Heng: “Doesn’t it look exactly the same?”
Shen Heng opened his mouth and asked: “This is…your father?”
Du Yan smiled softly: “Even father and son, wouldn’t be so alike.”
He thought for a moment and gave another example: “For example, Dr. Jin and him are just somewhat similar, right?”
Shen Heng almost felt that his brain was not enough and could only ask instinctively: “Then what is going on? Am I seeing a ghost?”
Du Yan rarely saw the steady Shen Heng showing such a confused and panicked expression. He laughed out loud: “Calm down first, I really exist.”
Du Yan came down and took Shen Heng to a nearby data room. In this place where the original Adam could not be seen, Shen Heng might be able to regain his ability to think.
He let Shen Heng calm down for a while, then he got up, turned on the computer, and started looking up information.
As expected, Du Yan found all the information about the original Adam on the computer. In the column for family members, it clearly read: son Jin Yiming.
Jin Yiming, Dr. Jin’s full name.
Du Yan was about to turn the page when he suddenly heard Shen Heng ask from behind him: “So, what is going on with what Dr. Jin said and what is happening in front of us?”
Without the shocking scene before his eyes, Shen Heng’s brain finally managed to regain its composure.
Du Yan then began to explain: “I have said that Dr. Jin is full of lies, none of which is true. I am not his Didi, to be precise, I am his baba.”
Shen Heng once again showed an indescribable expression. Seeing this, Du Yan thought that it would be better not to stimulate the other person too much, lest he be frightened too much and his dream collapse, which would be a big joke.
He added: “Of course, it’s just in terms of biological genes. I’m a clone.”
Shen Heng was stunned, but he felt that this matter was not so difficult to accept compared to the fact that Du Yan was Dr. Jin’s father.
“That one outside…”
Shen Heng paused, not really knowing how to address the people outside.
“Original Adam.” Du Yan continued: “That’s his code name.”
Du Yan waved to Shen Heng and asked him to come over to look at the data on the computer. He then calmly told Shen Heng about the Adam Project.
After watching all these shocking things, Shen Heng calmed down. What he had learned about genetic modification in the 135th Tribal settlement made him understand the Eden Project.
Perhaps because of the various things that happened afterward, when he saw Adam Project, he was actually quite receptive to it.
“The First Research Institute…”
Du Yan shrugged: “Their research results are somewhat useful, but the source of the anti-radiation drug, which has made the greatest contribution to mankind, is so evil that it makes people feel a little disgusted.”
Shen Heng was about to ask something else when he suddenly heard an alarm from outside. His expression changed, and he said: “Not good, could it be that someone has woken up?”
Shen Heng said quickly: “I’ll go out and check the situation. You close the door. After half an hour, if there is no movement, you can open the door.”
Du Yan knew Shen Heng’s strength, so he didn’t say anything more and nodded in agreement.
Du Yan and Shen Heng returned to the door of the laboratory, only to hear some noisy noises coming from the other side of the passage. It seemed that the soldiers of the mecha troops had woken up unexpectedly.
Shen Heng turned around and said: “Don’t come out before the time comes.”
Du Yan nodded obediently and then watched Shen Heng walk out the door.
He pressed the switch inside the door, watched the heavy alloy door slowly close, and then smiled.
Xiao Ba saw Shen Heng going out to clean up the mess and asked: “Du Yan, you are not in a good state. It’s rare to see you fail.”
Du Yan said: “I did it on purpose. If I hadn’t tricked Shen Heng away, how could I have continued with the next task?”
Xiao Ba asked in surprise: “What are you going to do?”
“Have you forgotten something? I am here to be the villain. Although the final decision is in Shen Heng’s hands, there are still some things that need to be done under this character setting.”
After saying this, Du Yan did not explain further but went directly to the interior of the laboratory. The structure of this laboratory was indeed very similar to the laboratory under the 135th Tribal settlement.
Only the fragments of memory left in Du Yan’s mind told him that there is a secret room hidden in this laboratory, which contained things left by the original Adam.
Inside the room was a giant computer, perhaps the most advanced technology before the war. The central computer currently used in the First Research Institute was probably not much more advanced than this computer.
After pressing the power button, the screen prompts him to enter his palm print or password.
Du Yan knew that his palm prints could definitely unlock the computer. He was about to put his palm on it when suddenly an idea came to his mind, and he changed it to a secret that he had cheated from Dr. Jin.
Once, when Dr. Jin was still pretending to be a sibling, he celebrated Du Yan’s birthday.
Maybe something happened that day, Dr. Jin drank a few more cups, which was rare, and Du Yan took the opportunity to control him for a few seconds and made him tell his most important secret.
Dr. Jin’s most important secret was a string of numbers that sounded like a password. At the time, Du Yan could not understand the meaning of it, but now, standing here, he has an idea in his mind.
Sure enough, after entering the password, a message video popped up on the huge screen, and the person in the video was the original Adam.
