Chapter 147. You Are Not Crazy
Arc 8: I am a dead bird.
It was late at night, the lighting was poor, and Chen You was a directionally challenged person. Even as a dead bird, he still had no sense of direction. Without the ability to follow directions, he flew and flew until he lost his way, not knowing where he was going.
Chen You found a random spot to stop, scratching his left bird’s claws at his right. He became serious, a rare moment of concentration, his small bird eyes surveying his surroundings.
This is a bustling night market. Everywhere you look, there are stalls selling mostly leaflets and small accessories. It’s a paradise for girls who might even lose their boyfriends or hold their hands with the wrong person if they come here.
Chen You hurried around, accidentally stepping on a stall where a young woman was enthusiastically selling pillows to a couple. No one here could see the black bird.
That’s great!
Chen You flew over to the fried tofu stall. Sniffing the aroma, he swallowed and mentally called out to his golden feather, “Old 4, where is that Chang Xiang Si restaurant?”
System replied, “Which Chang Xiang Si are you asking about? There are over a dozen or so in China.”
Chen You’s two pecks met with a click, “Don’t tell me nonsense. I’m really upset. Don’t you know someone died? Be Serious.”
System said, “You know someone’s dead, and you’re still looking at stinky tofu?”
Chen You shamelessly waved the banner of ‘I love stinky tofu, stinky tofu loves me’. He was just glancing at it and drooling, “Come on, I want to be a good citizen, bah, city bird, and do my bit for the police Shushu.”
System said, “At half past nine.”
Chen You was about to cry. Is there any sense in telling a moron like him about half past nine? Absolutely not! He thought for a moment and said, “Get a string, pull it from one end of the restaurant and tie it to my bird’s claws. I’ll fly along that string.”
System said, “That’s too much trouble. How about I let you teleport?”
Chen You’s eyes lit up instantly. “Really?”
System said, “Just kidding.”
Chen You, “…”
System said, “Don’t always think of taking shortcuts. Life is full of twists and turns. There are no shortcuts. You have to take one step at a time and keep your feet on the ground.”
Chen You with a bewildered look on face was fed a bowl of soul-stirring chicken soup that had a rather mechanical feel.
Well, I can’t argue with you, you win.
It took Chen You quite a while to find the Chang Xiang Si restaurant Chang Qin had been to. Even though he was dead, he would still be seen by others. What if there was someone dying in the restaurant? That would be the end of him.
The other party would say to their companion, “Look! Shit, a huge black bird is flying in!”
As for companions, they would definitely look in the direction the other person pointed, and then make a black question mark face. Don’t prank like this.
The other party doesn’t know, and will most likely grab their companion’s hand and shake it excitedly, “Oh my God, that black bird’s beak is so long and pointy, ahhhhhhh, it’s looking at me——”
And companions would give him a look that said, ‘Are you sick?’
Life is full of surprises, and it’s possible that the two of them would end their companionship because of a big black bird.
Chen You shook his feathers and thought, forget it, forget it. Don’t do anything bad, better to stay outside and watch.
Customers streamed in and out of the restaurant, and the neon lights flickered non-stop, playfully casting a hazy hue on the passing cars and pedestrians.
Chen You felt sleepy. He opened his beak and yawned. Why hasn’t he come out yet? Ten seconds later, a man and a woman emerged from the restaurant. The man was handsome, the woman beautiful, and they had the desirest height difference. Yo! They were a perfect match.
Chang Qin said goodbye to his employees and drove away.
Just as Chen You was about to fly onto the car roof, he heard a voice, “Ms. Mingxing, when will you become the boss’s wife?”
He stopped flying and decided to listen to see what kind of evil monsters they are.
Cheng Mingxing glanced at her colleagues with a hint of warning. Behind that warning, there was something else, joy and acquiescence. She had no idea everyone else knew, and she’d assumed she was the only one who knew, “What nonsense are you talking about? The boss has a sweetheart.”
Chen You flapped his big wings. Yes, that’s me.
One employee said, “That’s impossible. We haven’t seen any woman come to the restaurant to see the boss in all these years, nor have we heard that the boss is with anyone.”
Another person said, “Ms. Mingxing was the first to come to Chang Xiang Si. Now that he opened a branch, the boss has asked you to manage the main store. That kind of reassurance only comes with your own people.”
Dead Bird Chen was unhappy.
You know what? Your boss is gay. He doesn’t like men or women, he just likes me.
The employees were still chattering away, singing opera. Tired after a long day, they hoped to use the power of gossip to energize their brains and stimulate blood circulation before going to bed.
“There’s a saying that goes, ‘There’s no such thing as a wall that’s impenetrable.’ If the boss really has a sweetheart, no matter how secretive she is, there’s no way she wouldn’t reveal any signs.”
“That’s right. Those celebrities in the entertainment industry who have secret marriages, who hide their relationships and even holding hands. Always get discovered in the end.”
“Ms. Mingxing, are you mistaken? That person doesn’t even exist?”
Cheng Mingxing slung her bag over her shoulder, a hint of just the right amount of sadness crossing her eyes, “Maybe… passed away.”
Who passed away? I am alive and well. Chen You was stunned, oh no, he’s dead, and a dead bird at that. Ai, my poor cannon, this world I’m afraid you won’t appear.
After all, he exists as a species that cannot be described. No matter how much his beloved loves him, there is no way he can do something crazy to a dead bird.
When Chen You thought of this, he felt like the world was ending. His beak was so long and pointy that even a casual play with Chang Qin could cause a medical accident. He wanted to hug Chang Qin’s slender waist, but his paws were too short and couldn’t open wide enough. If he wanted to sleep in Chang Qin’s arms, he’d risk being squeezed and turned into a bird pie next morning.
How can we have fun together?
Chen You emerged from the desperate situation of being unable to fight. Those people were still talking, not afraid of missing the last bus.
Fortunately, it was night, and Cheng Mingxing’s flushed face was hidden by the darkness. When she smiled, her eyebrows and eyes curved. Judging from her face, she didn’t look like a scheming girl, and was quite cute.
“Alright, this is getting ridiculous. Let’s all go back. See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow, Lady Boss.”
Several employees greeted Cheng Mingxing, then walked towards the bus stop, arms around each other, chatting and laughing.
Cheng Mingxing was a manager who owns a car, a Beetle. It’s beautiful, graceful, and sleek, making it an eye-catching sight amidst the traffic.
She opened the car door and got in, unable to suppress her smile, “Lady Boss… that title sounds…”
The voice stopped abruptly.
Cheng Mingxing’s smile froze, and her face paled slightly. She didn’t say the last half of the sentence out of fear, but also as a warning to herself, don’t let a few jokes lead you down a dead end like an idiot.
Chen You watched the Beetle blend into the traffic, almost out of sight, when he suddenly shuddered. Oh no, he’d forgotten something important.
Without further delay, Chen You hurried to Chang Qin’s residence.
It’s a single-family house, a small villa-style house, with a garden, a swimming pool, and a sunroom. While it can’t compare to the mansions of wealthy families, it has everything, and a lot of thought has been put into the design. Even the garden lights are very romantic.
Chang Qin had just returned and discovered that the big black bird on the balcony was gone. He felt a strange sense of loss. It was so fleeting, so quick that he couldn’t catch it in time.
Looking at the bird droppings on the tile floor, Chang Qin’s face darkened instantly, and a curse word leaped from his tongue. He went to get something to clean it, and was almost suffocated several times in the process.
Who knows what the black bird ate, but the smell of its droppings is terrible. Not only is the smell fishy, it’s also very strong and penetrates into the brain.
After Chang Qin finished cleaning the floor, he went to wash his hands. He washed them over and over again. Even though he was wearing gloves, his hands still felt sticky. He was traumatized by the black bird.
“Wife, I saw a bird in a cage on the side of the road this afternoon. I went to open the cage door and let the bird fly away, but it followed me all the way back.”
“I opened the door and told it to go, but it refused to move. It spun around and did a handstand in front of me, and even brought me my slippers. I figured it had been taught by its previous owner and understood me, so I let it go to the balcony.”
Chang Qin rubbed his fingers together, as if trying to peel off a layer of skin. He felt a little aggrieved and angry, “While I was eating a bowl of noodles, the bird had defecated all over the balcony.”
“Wife, I’m probably too lonely. Even a passing bird makes me want it to stay to kill the time. When will you come over? I’ve opened a restaurant here for you, built a home for you, and prepared everything for you. I’ve been waiting for more than ten years. If I wait any longer, I’ll be old. I still want to spend more time with you in this world.”
With a long sigh, Chang Qin turned off the faucet, pulled down a towel, and wiped his red hands. Don’t let him see that black bird again, otherwise…
“Clink clink, clink clink clink———”
There was a sound outside, the sound of glass being struck. Chang Qin had a bad feeling. He looked in the direction of the sound and his eyes widened.
The balcony window was forgotten to be closed, and a large black creature flew in, buzzing around non-stop. Even without turning on the lights, he knew it was the big black bird, the scent drifted over.
Chang Qin thought of the bird droppings he had cleaned up earlier, and his stomach began to churn. He looked around, trying to find something to knock the bird out.
Chen You’s mouth was in pain, but he still insisted on pecking at the glass door. Baby, open the door!
The next moment, he flew backwards as his family’s big baby swung the mop toward him, as if to knock him down and throw him into the trash can.
Fuck, domestic violence is ignominious, you know that?
Chen You dodged left and right. His birdlike form was fat from overeating in life, making him less agile when flying. A large area made it easier to aim. Plus, the balcony was so small, nothing compared to a large square. After flying for a while, his wing was hit, and he fell with a thud. It hurt so much. Even though he was already dead, they still wouldn’t let him go.
Isn’t it said that after death, there will be no consciousness?
Chang Qin saw the black bird flapping on the ground, trying to fly, but its wings were injured, and it struggled a few times without success.
He picked up one of the black bird’s claws and threw it out of the window.
Chen You was thrown into the bushes like a chicken rag, his mouth full of dirt. All his hardships were in vain, it seemed God was dooming him.
After closing the balcony screen, Chang Qin went to take a bath and sleep.
That night, Chang Qin had a dream. It was the first time he had dreamed of that person since coming into this world.
In the dream, the man stood on a chair, looking down at him and pointing at his nose, scolding him, saying he was unkind and that he hated people who lacked compassion the most.
After waking up in shock, Chang Qin was covered in cold sweat, his chest heaving violently, his pupils still dilated, he was terrified.
That person said he hated him. Even if it was a dream, he couldn’t accept it.
He even mentioned breaking up. Chang Qin’s lips were pressed down, and a layer of haze covered his brows, sinking into his eyes little by little, and a doting look emerged. He smiled, “You are so naughty even in dreams…”
It was already bright before six in the morning, making it terrifying. It felt like the whole night had passed, in just a blink of an eye.
Chen You lay dead in the grass, basking in the sun. He hadn’t transformed into a golden bird, but remained dark and unattractive. Even he himself would have despised him.
The birds in the garden were chirping with their compatriots passing by, saying that the master of the house was very handsome, with charming eyes and long legs, and the color of briefs was black, white and gray. They also said that if one wanted to see it, the master would put it on the balcony to dry and they could go and touch it.
Chen You was so angry that he grabbed the ground. Shame on you! That’s LaoZi’s man!
Soon, there was movement on the balcony, and the beloved master emerged.
The birds in the garden were all acting like they were nymphomaniacs, especially the females, who were all oohing and ahhing, so excited that they looked forward to this activity all day.
They saw the man open the screen window and seemed to be looking at something.
The nearby birds were all puzzled. There was nothing there. Was the man admiring the flowers?
Actually, it wasn’t. Their beloved master was staring at a big black bird with an indescribably strange expression.
Chen You maintained his arrogant posture, his small eyes fixed on the man on the balcony. As long as you let me in, I’ll forgive you for hitting my wings last night.
Chang Qin thought of that dream, and the corners of his lips twitched. His hand pressing on the screen paused, and he didn’t close it again.
Chen You saw the man turn and go to the living room, leaving a window open for him. He happily stood up, flapped his wings, and flew into the window.
Chang Qin in the living room turned around, his expression gloomy, “Your droppings stink.”
Chen You’s bird beak moved, nonsense, droppings must be smelly, how could it possibly smell good?
Seriously, you look so disgusted. Believe it or not, once you recognize me, your daily routine will be to clean up my droppings, and you’ll even smile and chat with me, “Oh, baby, when will you drop a heart-shaped pattern? I’m looking forward to it.”
Chang Qin suddenly laughed, his laughter eerie, “If you defecate on the ground again, I’ll bury you in the garden.”
Shuddering violently, Chen You, who was now a bird, couldn’t help but be timid. He nodded tremblingly, indicating that he understood.
Chang Qin lowered his eyes and went to the bathroom to wash up. He came out much calmer.
Living alone, he didn’t hire a helper, he did everything himself. He seemed accustomed to it. He skillfully went into the kitchen, washed the rice, added water, washed two eggs, and put them in the water. He then turned on the plug and switched to the porridge setting.
After finishing all this, Chang Qin changed into his sportswear. As he bent down to put on his sneakers, he felt a strange chill on the back of his butt.
Chen You was looking at it. It was so perky and he wanted to take a picture of it.
Chang Qin stood up straight, and the feeling disappeared. He went out and ran to the riverside not far away.
Chen You was flying behind, his eyes fixed on the tall, running figure. He felt the other side was so warm under the morning sun shining on it that he couldn’t help but want to dive in the river.
But in his current state, he would be dragged into the river before he even got in.
System suddenly popped up, “Did you forget something?”
“I didn’t forget,” Chen You said as he flew, “I didn’t have a chance to tell Chang Qin the driver’s license plate.”
System said, “You’re pretty good at pooping, right? You can use your poop to create the license plate number.”
Chen You said, “Come on, do you think I haven’t tried this before? At first, I wanted to use my poop to spell out the words ‘I’m your wife’ for Chang Qin to see. I even imagined him looking so surprised and delighted that he’d lift me up high. But I realized that didn’t work at all.”
System was silent for a moment, “You actually tried it?”
It was a cold, mechanical voice with no ups and downs, yet it gave people a feeling of contempt.
Chen You, “…”
He noticed the man had run quite far, so he quickly flapped his wings to catch up, circling in front of him to block him, flying up and down in small movements.
Chang Qin’s breathing was steady, showing no trace of the fatigue from running, “Do you want to say something?”
Chen You nodded like a little chicken pecking at rice.
Chang Qin, having learned from his conversation with Cheng Mingxing that myna birds can be quite similar to humans, was no longer surprised. He smoothed his hair back from his forehead, wiping the sweat from it with his palm, “Go ahead.”
Chen You was really annoyed. Myna birds with normal brains, if taught, would say a lot of words, but he could only say “da da.” Regarding this point, he now suspects that the brain of this bird body may not be working properly.
Chang Qin squinted his eyes and said, “If you don’t want to speak, get out of the way.”
Chen You was so anxious that he was spinning around. He accidentally glanced at a nearby tree and flew over. He picked up a branch of the right length and thickness from the ground, held it in his mouth, and went to write and draw in front of the man.
Chang Qin raised his eyebrows, and after a long pause, he asked uncertainly, “License plate number?”
Chen You continued to nod like a chicken pecking at rice, and the branches almost fell down with excitement. That’s great! If it weren’t for my inconvenience now, I would definitely give you a kiss.
Chang Qin raised his eyelids, “What do you mean?”
Chen You tilted his neck and made a swallowing motion.
Chang Qin, “…”
He pondered for a moment, “Are you trying to tell me that the owner of this license plate number is dead?”
Chen You shook his head. Imagination, imagination!
He flew down, then raised his claws and flapped his wings beside the license plate number, his gestures quite abstract.
Chang Qin saw this and found it hilarious, “Hey, Big Myna, isn’t it time for you to lose some weight?”
Chen You’s body stiffened.
Complaining about his droppings being smelly and him being fat. Hehe, you are good, really good.
Yes, if the license plate number can be written, then anything else can be written too! Chen excitedly picked up a branch and wrote the words “I’m your wife, I’m here” in front of the man. The result was xxxxxxxx.
Restrictions, restrictions again, the system is fucking playing tricks on him.
Chang Qin ignored it and continued running. He returned to his residence for breakfast. He had two bowls of rice, two eggs, and two side dishes, pickles and a cold cucumber salad.
“I bought these pickles from another store. The taste is closer to that of DaBo’s, so I bought a jar.”
Chang Qin was used to talking to the air, as if there was someone sitting across from him. This made him feel less lonely and bored, “That shop has several kinds of pickles, and they also sell small yellow croaker.”
Chen You was so greedy that his drool was almost on the ground.
Chang Qin caught a glimpse of the big black bird standing at the edge of the dining table. His eyes warned, “Who told you to come up here? Get down!”
Chen You only had eyes for the plate of pickles.
“You want some?” Chang Qin mentioned the person in a gentle tone, “This is my wife’s favorite. You won’t get any.”
Chen You really didn’t know what to say.
You big idiot! Your wife, I, is staring, and you, can’t you use your brain? You used to be so smart. Maybe your IQ has dropped after being with me for so long?
Chang Qin picked up an egg, tapped it on the table, and peeled the shell, “Myna birds eat insects, right? Go find them in the garden.”
Chen You became a blackbird sculpture, motionless. I don’t want to eat insects. I want to eat pickles and eggs.
Chang Qin took a bite of the egg and faintly sensed the resentment emanating from the big black bird. He tilted his head, perhaps because the other side really didn’t speak, and he actually wanted to say a few more words, “Your owner let you eat it?”
Chen You opened his mouth, “da da, da da da, da da da.”
Chang Qin scoffed, “Daddy? Is this your owner’s evil taste?”
Chen You, haha, I’m still your DaYe.
After Chang Qin finished drinking the millet porridge, he went to the kitchen to get another bowl and came back to find that the big black bird was gone and there was a dark spot on the ground, which was pickled vegetables.
After a moment of silence while holding the porridge, Chang Qin’s face turned grim as he cursed, “MF.”
This myna that came from who knows where is probably no less stupid than the one in Cheng Mingxing’s house. It’s even stealing vegetables.
Unruly, like that person.
The hostility in Chang Qin’s eyes disappeared, and his expression softened. He smiled and shook his head, “Forget it. Last night I hit that bird, and you came into my dream to scold me and accuse me of wrongdoing. How could I dare to do anything…”
Chen You was eating pickles in the garden. Both of his claws were covered in them. He finished them bit by bit and then, contentedly, went to find some water to drink.
A few days later, when Chang Qin went to the restaurant, he heard the employees whispering about something, and the customers were looking at him. There was no malicious intent, but it was quite strange.
Cheng Mingxing came over and said in a low voice, “Boss, there’s something you might not know. The customer who said the shrimp were problematic has disappeared.”
Chang Qin frowned, “Really?”
“Yeah,” Cheng Mingxing said, “The police just left. They said they’d come back later. I think they want to talk to you.”
She bit her lip, “Boss, please stay away from the internet these next couple of days. Those people online are just talking nonsense. They’re just a bunch of keyboard warriors, following trends without knowing anything.”
Chang Qin took the cup handed to him by the employee and drank a sip of water, “Now that you mention it, I want to take a look.”
“…” Cheng Mingxing said worriedly, “Internet Power is terrible. Boss, you’d better not watch it.”
She’s been in a relationship vacuum. With nothing to do after getting off work at the restaurant, she spends her free time online. She’s seen more than one tragedy involving depression caused by internet addiction.
In the eyes of other people, they don’t think there is anything wrong, and may even think that it is ridiculous to take what strangers say or do too seriously. Self-harm and suicide are self-inflicted and completely unnecessary.
No matter what anyone says, just be yourself. Don’t read or think about anything online. Focus your time on what’s in front of you. It’s no big deal.
However, bystanders and parties involved have completely different mentalities when facing the same thing.
She couldn’t stand it, nor could she understand the people who took advantage of others’ misfortunes, blindly followed the crowd, and spoke nonsense without any basis for truth. What were those shit packed people thinking? Perhaps they had accumulated stress and darkness in real life and wanted to release it through the internet.
Anyway, no one knows whoever they are, so they can act recklessly without having to hide anything.
When Cheng Mingxing came back to her senses, the man had already picked up his phone. Her eyelids twitched, worried that the other party would feel uncomfortable after seeing the controversy online.
Others may not understand, but she knows that this longing for love holds great significance in this man’s heart.
Because every time the other person mentions it, what’s in his eyes is different from other times, it’s tenderness.
Chang Qin scrolled through the posts, his expression unwavering throughout. He put down his phone and continued drinking water as if nothing had happened.
Cheng Mingxing twitched her lips and exclaimed, “Boss, you have such a good attitude.”
Chang Qin said, “You’ve never seen a better mindset.”
Cheng Mingxing was unconvinced, “Is there anyone with a better mindset than you? Who is it?”
Chang Qin fell silent.
That person’s attitude is always positive, like the sunshine of spring, summer, autumn and winter, which influences him.
A woman’s intuition told Cheng Mingxing that that person really existed.
Never showed up. Either got married, passed away, or… couldn’t be found.
Cheng Mingxing thought, no matter what the reason was, after so many years, he should let it go.
Everyone has obsessions, be it about someone, something, or stuff, but they tend to last for a certain time.
It’s impossible to penetrate deep into the bone marrow.
That’s not an obsession, it’s a morbid thought.
Around ten o’clock, several police officers came to the restaurant, and Chang Qin took them to the office in the back.
One of them said in a formal tone, “Mr. Chang, sorry to trouble you, we have a few questions for you.”
Chang Qin raised his head.
The man gestured to someone behind him to make a statement, “Excuse me, do you recognize the man in this photo?”
Chang Qin took a look and said, “Have been to the restaurant.”
The man followed the routine and asked, “Mr. Chang’s restaurant is well-known and must have many customers. How did you recognize it at first sight?”
Chang Qin answered according to procedure, “A few days ago, he was dining at the restaurant and said there was something wrong with the shrimp. One of my employees called me, and I came over to talk to him.”
The man asked, “Were there any other guests present at the time?”
Chang Qin lit a cigarette and said, “Many.”
After talking with a few of his companions, the man asked, “Mr. Chang, can I access your restaurant’s surveillance?”
Chang Qin stood up and took them to the security room.
There were surveillance cameras installed at every angle in the restaurant, recording everything that happened on both floors.
The date was switched back to around 7pm on the 12th, and the scenes on the first floor of the restaurant were replayed.
This included Chang Qin and Cheng Mingxing entering the restaurant together to communicate with the middle-aged man, and the commotion among the surrounding guests.
The woman then left, followed by the middle-aged man.
This is the restaurant’s surveillance footage, which stopped at 7:25:56.
Police didn’t have to wait for that footage.
The lighting was a bit dim, and the footage showed the middle-aged man arguing with the woman after leaving the restaurant. At 7:41:09, the woman left in a car.
The middle-aged man hailed a taxi on the side of the road, and his entire journey was captured on camera by the restaurant’s security camera.
The officer requested a replay, but still couldn’t make out the taxi’s license plate clearly.
But it’s not difficult, there are surveillance cameras all along the way.
After the several men left, Chang Qin smoked his cigarette with half-closed eyes. When he heard the other party mention the license plate number, he thought of the string of numbers and letters that the myna had told him.
Chang Qin tapped his cigarette against the edge of the ashtray, “Is this the taxi?”
He took a drag on his cigarette, stubbed it out, and scoffed, “Myna, do you want to be a detective bird or something?”
“You can’t change your destiny just because you want to.”
He murmured, “Even I can’t…”
The police investigation revealed that the taxi disappeared on section xx of Road and was rediscovered on section yy of Road. The middle-aged man was no longer in the passenger seat.
They went to the taxi driver’s address and brought him back to the police station for questioning. He answered everything, saying that the middle-aged man got out of the taxi on XX Road.
There are two blind spots on that road section.
The police wanted to check the taxi, but discovered it had been washed and the only valid fingerprint they had was that of the driver.
The middle-aged man is missing, his life or death unknown. The driver has suspicions, but no evidence.
The case is at a standstill.
Chen You listened to his compatriots’ daily chatter about the progress. Damn, that driver will be out indeed.
Troublesome.
He was a directionally challenged man and had forgotten where the driver had buried the body, only remembering it was in the mountains.
“444, what do you think I should do?”
“Mind your own business.”
Chen You said, “I watched that man being killed and buried without doing anything. I felt bad.”
System said, “Everyone has their own destiny. I’ve said it before, and your husband has said it too. Remember this.”
Chen You, “…”
That being said, Chen You still didn’t want to sit idly by, so he flew to the police station to stake out the situation.
He was wrong. He forgot that his dear was a person with distorted values, a dark heart, a twisted mind, and absolutely no sense of justice.
Chen You decided to do it himself this time.
He waited and waited, and finally a young man from that squadron appeared.
If the other person can see him, it means they are about to die.
Chen You sighed and wrote the license plate number for the young man to see.
The young man’s focus was misplaced, “You can write! That’s amazing! You’re the smartest myna I’ve ever met.”
Chen You wanted to roll his eyes.
The young man exclaimed, “Isn’t this the driver’s license plate number?”
Chen You nodded.
The young man’s eyes widened. “Can you still understand me? Shit, did you see something?”
Chen You continued to nod.
The young man’s expression was serious, “Come on, take me there!”
Chen You thought, since they were going to look for the body anyway, one person would be enough. Once they found it and examined the body, they would find the driver’s fingerprints on it.
The young man got in a car, and Chen You led the way. After forty or fifty minutes, the car arrived at the foot of the mountain.
The phone rang, and the young man freed his hands to answer it, “Captain Zhang, I was just looking for you. I have a clue! It was provided by a myna. Hahahahaha, seriously, I’m not kidding. I’m at the foot of the mountain right now, and I’ll be heading up soon. Just wait for me to solve this case. Myna is not a name, it’s a bird…”
With a loud bang, the mountain collapsed, burying the young man and his car alive.
It was just a matter of a moment.
Chen You was so frightened that his wings trembled, and he fell vertically to the ground, paralyzed.
So scary.
Chen You’s eyes were wet, and he cried loudly.
System said, “Don’t blame yourself. That young man died today, and the cause of death was this.”
Chen You said while crying, “I know you’re trying to comfort me, but I’m not feeling comforted at all.”
“If I hadn’t gone looking for that man, he wouldn’t have come to this place and wouldn’t have been buried alive.”
System said, “This is the way to his home.”
“Whether you show up or not, he’ll drive past this place, get caught in a landslide, and get buried alive.”
Chen You was stunned.
So, it really has nothing to do with him?
System said, “Fate cannot be changed.”
That’s good, that’s good. Chen You felt much better. He took a moment to calm down before flying away from the scene.
Now there’s a landslide, and the spot where the bodies were buried can’t be found.
No wonder the driver couldn’t see him at the time.
Shortly after the landslide occurred, the squadron leader who answered the phone brought his men over, his eyes red with tears.
Chang Qin learned about this from watching the news. He didn’t care. Whether someone in this world was rich or poor, suffering from illness, or driven crazy by debt, it had nothing to do with him.
He was waiting for his lover, that was all.
A big black bird flew in from the balcony and crashed headfirst into the sofa.
Chang Qin, “…”
“Myna, why are you here again?”
The dead bird lay motionless in its nest.
“I haven’t seen you for over ten days, and you smell even worse.”
Chang Qin kicked him, “Get up.”
Dead Bird Chen opened his eyes a tiny slit, barely breathing, looking very pitiful.
Chang Qin frowned. Was he going to die? He put his legs down, stared at the black bird, and turned to search online.
Runny nose, tears, fluffy feathers, a cold.
Chang Qin frantically went to make a bowl of cold medicine and said, “Drink it.”
Chen You took a look and knew what it was just by the smell. He didn’t have a cold, so he didn’t drink it.
Chang Qin placed the bowl on the table and said, “If you don’t want to drink, forget it.”
He crossed his arms and said coldly, “Get out of here and don’t bring all your germs to my sofa.”
Chen You glared.
Unfortunately, his eyes are too small, so it doesn’t have much effect.
Chang Qin saw the black bird’s claws, dark and shiny, also covered in mud, and his forehead throbbed.
The sofa needs to be replaced.
Finally, Chen You was carried to the balcony. Poor thing, he was frightened outside and when he came home, he didn’t even get a hug.
Aside from not being able to tease or care for birds like bird lovers, Chang Qin never touched the black bird again.
However, it is not allowed to touch any piece of furniture.
Chen You laughed. He remembered it. There was no rush. Really, there was no rush at all. Sooner or later, you would cry.
More than two months later, Chen You was out and about when he saw the driver.
He thought the other party would not see him like last time, but he didn’t expect that this time it would be different.
The driver, who had just finished a wedding drink and had a cigarette dangling from his lips, said, “It’s a myna! It’s quite fat. Your owner treats you very well!”
He smacked his lips and spat on the ground,”Are you fucking kidding me! Birds have it better than humans these days. I’d rather be a bird in my next life.”
Chen You froze in mid-air. This man saw him.
Sure enough heaven is bound to return and punish evildoers!
On Friday, a news report appeared on television, the body of a middle-aged man who had been missing for nearly four months had been unearthed, the driver had been arrested, and the case had been solved.
It turns out the police got a clue from a case several years ago and discovered that it was the same suspect, so they arrested and interrogated him for both of them.
Chen You finally understood that he was merely a bystander of fate. System was right, everyone had their own destiny.
Heavy rain fell, and the birds in the garden wanted to take shelter on the balcony, but unfortunately, the glass windows were closed.
Dead Bird Chen watched through the glass window as his compatriots flew towards him, chirping and flying away. He flew with pride.
Special treatment is good.
In the living room, Chang Qin was eating an apple and watching an action movie. Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish. There were no swords in sight, and the enemy was defeated, babbling that they couldn’t take it anymore.
Chen You stared intently. He wasn’t watching the movie, that had no appeal to him. He’d seen too many of them, and they all followed the same cliché.
He was looking at the apple in the man’s hand and wanted to eat the one in his mouth.
The black bird kept watching, like a pitiful child. Chang Qin took a small piece of apple and threw it into the air.
Chen You opened his mouth accurately to catch it and ate it up in one gulp. I want more.
Chang Qin gave him another small bite and teased, “You’re a myna, and you like eating apples?”
Chen You quickly finished it and continued to wait for his turn to be fed.
Chang Qin placed the remaining half of the apple on the table, his eyes fixed on the movie.
He spoke, his breathing steady, “Eat it yourself.”
Chen You took the apple away and pecked at it.
He emptied half the apple and lay on the ground, his two claws curled in front of him, revealing a look of contentment.
At the end of the movie, the enemy screamed, convulsed, and foamed at the mouth.
Chen You took a moment to glance at it and offered a verdict. The actors’ acting was too fake, their bodies were uncoordinated, and they lacked a sense of camera. Most importantly, the fight between the two characters was too monotonous and unexciting.
Only this man could bear to watch it. He would have yawned and fallen asleep.
Chang Qin was about to change one, but when he turned around, he was stunned, “Is it you?”
Chen You rolled over and stood up from the ground. He blinked his eyes and said, it’s me, it’s me, it’s me.
Chang Qin was a little lost in thought, “Is it really you?”
Chen You continued blinking. It’s really me, the real deal, guaranteed genuine!
After a long pause, Chang Qin held his forehead with his hand. He sighed and chuckled softly, a hint of self-mockery and bitterness. “Wife, am I crazy? I actually mistook a bird for you.”
Chen You sobbed, no, you’re not crazy, really. You’re just retarded. Blame me. I infected you.
