Chapter 105. Make Peace

Teacher Li, the homeroom teacher of Class 3 of Grade 1, has been very distressed recently.

When she first got the class list, her first feeling was very happy because Zhang Jing, the top scorer in the high school entrance examination, was assigned to her class.

Teacher Li had a friend who was a teacher at the junior high school where Zhang Jing was studying, so she took the opportunity to inquire about the situation of this top scorer in the high school entrance examination.

As a result, after this inquiry, the joy of being assigned the top scorer in the high school entrance examination immediately disappeared and was replaced by distress.

Because Zhang Jing, the top scorer in the high school entrance exam who was assigned to her class, had always been tied to a student named Du Yan. Coincidentally, Du Yan was also on the class roster.

According to Teacher Li’s friend, Du Yan is a synonym for trouble. He caused turmoil in the entire junior high school as soon as he entered the school, but he was a little too smart, and there was no way to find any evidence against him.

Anyway, the junior high school teachers felt a little upset and troubled whenever they mentioned the name Du Yan.

After Teacher Li saw Zhang Jing and Du Yan in person, she felt even more troubled. Because Zhang Jing and Du Yan’s appearances were a little too outstanding.

In high school, good-looking boys and girls are bound to have some troubles.

Zhang Jing is fine. Good students like him usually have good self-control. She believes that if she just talks to him properly, he won’t do anything out of line.

As for Du Yan, according to his junior high school teacher, he is a free-spirited student who hates being bound by rules. He also looks so likable that Teacher Li can almost imagine how many little girls will fall for Du Yan in the future.

Moreover, it is difficult to educate students with personalities like Du Yan, and talking too much about them will have a counterproductive effect.

The only thing that made Teacher Li feel at ease was that Zhang Jing and Du Yan were good friends. It was said that Zhang Jing was the only person who could control Du Yan, and during the three years of junior high school, Du Yan did not cause any major trouble under Zhang Jing’s control.

However, not long after the school started, Teacher Li discovered that something was wrong.

Because, Zhang Jing and Du Yan, a pair of good friends, seemed to have some conflict.

Anyway, the two of them were not inseparable. Whether it was going to class, doing morning exercises, or going to the cafeteria, the two of them moved separately. The other person in their dormitory, Shi An, sometimes moved with Zhang Jing, but most of the time, he moved with Du Yan.

Things were going in the worst direction that Teacher Li had initially guessed. She had heard the girls in her grade talking about Du Yan and Zhang Jing several times.

Zhang Jing was fine. He was always cold and aloof, and he only focused on studying, so the girls didn’t dare to approach him easily. However, Du Yan was like a little sun, and he would smile and be enthusiastic to anyone who talked to him.

In recent days, the situation has deteriorated even faster. Du Yan suddenly started to get close to several girls in the class. Although they didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, they were just normal classmates interacting with each other.

However, Teacher Li looked at Du Yan’s overly good looks and cheerful and enthusiastic personality and felt that it was better to take precautions.

Zhang Jing still stood in the corridor, watching Du Yan and Shi An walk further and further away until they disappeared. He felt heavy in his heart. He was the one who had led the whole thing, but he felt a strong sense of unwillingness.

“Zhang Jing.”

Zhang Jing heard someone calling him from behind, so he turned around: “Teacher Li.”

Teacher Li nodded and said: “Do you have time now? Can I chat with you?”

Zhang Jing has always been very polite to his teachers. Even though he was in a bad mood, he still didn’t show it, but nodded: “I have time.”

Teacher Li brought Zhang Jing to the office. The other teachers had basically gone to eat, so there was only her and Zhang Jing in the office.

After Teacher Li asked Zhang Jing to sit down, she first asked about his life, such as whether he was used to living in the dormitory. After she saw that Zhang Jing answered all the questions and did not seem to be very resistant to the teacher, she changed the topic and talked about Du Yan.

“I heard that you and Du Yan from your class have had a good relationship since junior high school?”

Zhang Jing nodded: “Yes, he lives next door to me, and we grew up together.”

Teacher Li smiled and said: “Childhood friends are a very rare friendship. This friendship, if it continues into adulthood, will be a very precious treasure.”

Zhang Jing was stunned and said: “I have always thought so.”

Teacher Li said: “I believe you also know that the relationship between best friends is not just about having fun together. In each other’s life journey, they also play the role of guides and supervisors. When one party occasionally deviates from the right path, the other can pull them back on track in time, right?”

Zhang Jing’s back suddenly tensed up, and he even had to take a deep breath secretly to suppress his trembling voice: “Teacher Li, what do you mean?”

Teacher Li has been a class teacher for many years and has taught countless students. She could tell at a glance that Zhang Jing was a little nervous and said quickly: “I don’t mean anything else, nor do I mean that Du Yan did anything wrong. I just think he has been getting a little close to girls recently.”

When Zhang Jing heard this, he relaxed and asked: “Du Yan, he is just having a normal fellow student relationship.”

Teacher Li smiled and said: “I know, but as a teacher, I have seen too many students who think more deeply than you about some things. Sometimes, we have to take precautions before things happen.”

Seeing that Zhang Jing showed no resistance, Teacher Li continued: “You are a very good person, and so is your friend Du Yan. In high school, everyone is facing a phase of growing up from adolescence and will begin to be curious about the opposite sex and develop some ignorant affection in their hearts.”

“Excellent teenagers like you will always attract the attention of the opposite sex.” Teacher Li said: “I can see that you are a person who has a good plan for your life and you clearly know that the most important thing at this stage is to study.”

“Are you worried that Du Yan’s studies will be affected by his interactions with the opposite sex?” Zhang Jing asked.

Teacher Li nodded: “It seems that you can understand what I mean without me saying more. Du Yan’s personality is not as stable as yours. He is a little jumpy and does not think things through that deeply. You are the person who has the closest relationship with Du Yan. I hope you can guide him more to not do anything out of line when interacting with the opposite sex.”

Zhang Jing asked in surprise: “Teacher, why don’t you talk to Du Yan in person? He is not someone who completely ignores advice.”

Teacher Li said: “In fact, I think I might be a bit scared due to past experiences. A student I taught in the previous term had a personality similar to Du Yan, and he had a good relationship with a girl at the time. I was a little worried, so I talked to the boy a few times, but the boy had a rebellious personality. The more I talked to him, the more he got along with the girl.”

Teacher Li sighed: “Later, the two of them got into trouble. They were caught eating forbidden fruit in the school laboratory by the inspecting dean of students. After that, both children dropped out of school. It was really a pity.”

Zhang Jing’s eyes widened slightly, sounding very surprised: “This, how could this happen?”

Teacher Li said: “So I will be very cautious when I meet students with this kind of personality. Fortunately, Du Yan’s situation is a little different from that boy. He also has friends like you who have excellent self-control. If you give him more advice from a friend’s perspective, the effect should be much better than us teachers.”

Zhang Jing was silent for a moment, as if he had made up his mind, and nodded: “Okay, Teacher Li. I will keep an eye on Du Yan.”

When Zhang Jing came out, he felt much more relaxed. Perhaps this long talk with Teacher Li gave him a reason to stay with Du Yan and interfere with his life.

Zhang Jing knew that his current state of mind was not normal, but he did not want to think too much about it. He just wanted to maintain such a close relationship with Du Yan for the time being, and no one else could get involved.

After all, they are still young, and there are endless possibilities in the future. Why should they cut off all the paths ahead because of one possibility?

When Du Yan finished taking a shower and pushed the door open to go out, he unexpectedly saw Zhang Jing.

Zhang Jing is a study fanatic. After studying at night after nine o’clock, he usually stays in the classroom to do questions and does not go back to the dormitory until after ten o’clock. Seeing Zhang Jing at this point is simply unprecedented.

Shi An hasn’t come back yet, probably still in the classroom, but Zhang Jing came back early.

Although Du Yan and Zhang Jing have been somewhat distant during this period, they are not to the point where they don’t talk to each other. He asked directly: “It’s rare that you come back so early?”

Zhang Jing stood up, took out a very delicate cake from a bag, and held it in front of Du Yan.

“Well, I climbed over the wall to buy it.” Zhang Jing said: “Let’s make peace.”

When Du Yan saw Zhang Jing apologize, he thought of the inexplicable alienation during this period of time, and he became angry. He rolled his eyes at Zhang Jing and said: “Sure enough, you have been really angry with me during this period of time!”

Zhang Jing smiled a little embarrassedly: “No, I was not angry with you.”

“Then why were you acting so weird? You looked like you didn’t want to talk to me?” Du Yan asked.

Zhang Jing was stumped by his question, and knew he couldn’t tell the reasons, so he could only follow Du Yan’s previous reasons and said: “That’s right, you know I’m a clean freak, but you still draw on my face…”

“I just painted your face as a clown, is it necessary to be angry for so long?” Du Yan completely ignored Zhang Jing and sat on the chair angrily.

Zhang Jing walked over with the cake in his hand: “It’s my fault, please don’t be angry, okay?”

Du Yan took a look at the cake and said: “I don’t eat this, are you trying to please a girl?”

Zhang Jing smiled and put the cake in Du Yan’s hand: “This is not for you to eat. To express my apology, you cover my face with the cake. I will not get angry over such a small matter in the future.”

After saying that, Zhang Jing closed his eyes, looking like he was ready to let Du Yan deal with him.

After a moment, Zhang Jing felt a smooth and soft touch on his face, followed by a stroke across his lips.

He opened his eyes and saw Du Yan’s smiling face: “You really think I’m as stingy as you, little old man. Don’t distance yourself from me suddenly like this in the future.”

Zhang Jing saw the cream left on Du Yan’s fingertips and subconsciously licked his lips. The sweet feeling spread from between his lips and teeth to the deepest part of his heart.

He also smiled, his voice soft but firm: “Okay, I will never distance myself from you again.”
