Chapter 112. Getting Married

When Du Yan woke up, the first thing he felt was a severe headache. He lay on the bed, looking at the unfamiliar ceiling in front of him, and for a moment, he couldn’t tell where he was.

He closed his eyes and was stunned for a while, and suddenly heard someone beside him say: “What’s wrong? Still feeling uncomfortable?”

Du Yan turned around and found Zhang Jing sitting next to him, looking at him with great concern. Seeing that Zhang Jing was dressed neatly, he sat up and prepared to get up.

“Ow——”

Du Yan simply couldn’t control himself and let out a scream. He felt as if the area below his waist had been crushed, and a sharp pain came with the slightest movement.

Zhang Jing was a little flustered and at a loss: “You, you don’t move, it’s all my fault. I’ve already applied medicine on you. You should have a good rest today. Do you want to eat something?”

Du Yan took a deep breath and managed to adapt. He was a little confused by Zhang Jing’s series of questions and asked in confusion: “Apply medicine? Apply medicine where?”

Zhang Jing’s face suddenly turned red.

“Well, it was my first time, and I had no experience, so I hurt you. I ran to the pharmacy in the middle of the night and bought Mayinglong ointment…”

“Mayinglong? Why are you applying hemorrhoid cream on me?” Du Yan was so angry that he even ignored the discomfort in his body and sat up directly.

Zhang Jing hurriedly went to help him and put a pillow behind his waist, while explaining: “The people in the pharmacy said that Mayinglong has a good anti-inflammatory effect. I saw it there last night and it was all swollen…”

Du Yan finally realized that the direction of this conversation was too confusing. Perhaps it was too stimulating. Some memories of last night finally began to emerge in his drunken and disconnected mind.

Those lips and teeth intertwined, those bodies intertwined, and everything that can not be described. He looked down and saw the marks on his body, making it impossible to explain everything as a dream after being drunk.

Du Yan was struck by lightning, and after a long while, he finally asked in a low voice: “How are you going to explain this to Shi An?”

Zhang Jing replied: “He and I have already agreed to compete fairly. No matter who you choose, we will still be friends.”

“Wait, wait?” Du Yan was even more shocked: “What do you mean by fair competition? Doesn’t Shi An like you?”

“……”

There was silence in the room, and suddenly, a sound coming from the door broke it all.

“How do you know I like Zhang Jing?” Shi An walked in from the entrance, and they had no idea how long he had been listening there.

This should have been a somewhat chaotic scene. Shi An was standing at the door when he heard the conversation between the two people, he was upset, angry, and entangled. He even wanted to rush in and fight Zhang Jing again.

However, before he could take any action, he was completely speechless by Du Yan’s logic.

The current situation had sunk into an eerie peace.

Du Yan put on his clothes and sat on the bed as usual. Zhang Jing and Shi An sat on another bed, and all three of them calmed down from their chaotic emotions.

Shi An asked again: “Why do you think I like Zhang Jing?”

Du Yan said: “Didn’t you say that yourself at the beginning?”

Shi An smiled helplessly: “I just didn’t deny that. Everything was your guess. From the beginning to the end, I liked you.”

Du Yan was stunned, and after a while, he asked: “No, I have been bullying you since we were children. What do you like me for?”

Shi An knew that Du Yan’s train of thought was quite strange, so he didn’t try to explain too much. He just asked: “Let’s not talk about these things that happened a long time ago. I just want to ask, what would have happened if I had been the one who stayed last night?”

Du Yan thought for a moment and said: “I actually was aware of who the other person was.”

Shi An got the answer, and the expression on his face showed a bit of loss and relief. He was silent for a moment, then said: “In fact, I also vaguely know in my heart that you treat me differently from Zhang Jing, but I would not be satisfied until I get a clear answer in the end.”

What Du Yan said was both true and false.

The truth was, although he was not very clear-headed at that time, he knew who this person was.

The lie was that he thought that this person was Xiao Lang, the lover from his previous dream, so he accepted those intimate actions calmly. However, Du Yan had never considered developing any other relationship with Zhang Jing in this dream.

However, Du Yan also knew that Xiao Lang and Zhang Jing were essentially the same person, so since things had developed to this point, he accepted it without any resistance in his heart.

Zhang Jing finally spoke, and he said to Shi An: “I’m sorry, I think Du Yan and I may have to change our plans regarding our future studies.”

Du Yan didn’t understand what Zhang Jing meant, but Shi An was very sensitive and sensed something. He asked directly: “Although I can’t give up completely for a while, you don’t have to avoid me…”

Zhang Jing interrupted him: “You misunderstood. The current relationship between Du Yan and I is not suitable for us to continue staying in the country.”

Shi An still felt a little reluctant: “But, you just need to be careful. I, I will also help cover it up.”

Zhang Jing shook his head: “I can’t take this risk. Du Yan and I are not independent yet and are not strong enough to face everything after being exposed, so we can only avoid it for the time being.”

He looked at Du Yan again: “Du Yan, my opinion is that we should leave here for the time being and wait until we are independent enough to freely choose our future path. What do you think?”

Du Yan thought about it and nodded: “I’ll listen to you. You always think things through better than I do.”

After the college entrance examination results came out, Zhang Jing became the city’s top scorer in science. However, this science champion, who was almost the center of attention, did not choose any university in the country.

At a high school reunion in their first year of college, the classmates learned about Zhang Jing’s whereabouts from Shi An.

He and Du Yan went abroad, first studied in a preparatory class for a year, and then applied to the best local university. Now he is busy with his studies, so he can’t come back to attend the party for the time being.

Many people sighed that he was indeed a top student, and that life was so free and easy, and that no matter which path he chose, he would be able to shine.

At this time, Jian Sisi already had a boyfriend in college. When she heard from Shi An that the boy she had liked for three years was now overseas, she felt calm but also a little melancholy, as if she was reminiscing about her ignorant youth.

She smiled and asked: “You had the best relationship with Du Yan and Zhang Jing back then. Now that both of them have gone abroad. Isn’t it lonely for you?”

Shi An looked down at the wine in the glass, then suddenly raised his head and drank it. When he put the glass down, he said: “It’s lonely.”

At the class reunion three years later, almost everyone graduated from college and was either starting to enter society or continuing their studies. Perhaps because they thought that there would be fewer and fewer opportunities for them to get together in the future, the number of people who came was unprecedentedly large.

There was one less person at the dinner table, Shi An.

Someone asked about Shi An’s whereabouts, and Jian Sisi smiled and said: “He went abroad for further studies, and is probably on the other side of the ocean now. Speaking of which, I really envy the friendship between the three of them. It has not faded a bit because of the long distance. Instead, Shi An has been working hard to find his good friends abroad.”

People sighed and felt even more melancholy that their youthful years were gone.

Shi An got out of the taxi dragging his suitcase.

He looked at the two-story building in front of him. There was a small garden at the door with well-maintained lawns and growing plants.

When Shi An rang the doorbell, it was Zhang Jing who opened the door. He looked at Shi An in front of him, slightly startled, and showed an expression that he wanted to close the door.

However, Zhang Jing’s upbringing was not enough to do this, so he asked: “Why are you here?”

Shi An smiled heartily: “Du Yan invited me here, so don’t look like you want to kick me out.”

This time, waking up from the dream was somewhat natural and somewhat unexpected.

After graduating, Du Yan and Zhang Jing returned to China to accompany their grandparents during their last years of life. After that, the two settled in that country that was extremely tolerant of homosexuality.

Zhang Jing’s parents eventually discovered their relationship, but by then, Zhang Jing and Du Yan already had their own careers and were strong enough to overcome their parents’ opposition.

In the end, Zhang Jing’s parents could only slowly accept it after their opposition was ineffective.

Du Yan’s parents have been doing business abroad for a long time and have come into contact with many homosexual couples. Although they were a little shocked at first, they quickly accepted their son’s relationship after confirming that he was living a happy life.

Afterward, Du Yan and Zhang Jing got their marriage certificate and held their wedding, with both of their parents attending. However, after the wedding, the dream still showed no signs of ending.

Du Yan can only live abroad with Zhang Jing and wait for the opportunity to wake up one day.

After graduation, the shy and introverted Shi An chose an unexpected career. He joined a very famous documentary film crew and traveled around the world to shoot documentaries.

Shi An’s mother still lived in Pingcheng. Shi An had a good income, and she only needed to enjoy a stable life in her later years. The only regret was that Shi An didn’t get married.

Perhaps it was the affluent and peaceful days that made Tan Ayi open-minded. She was always worried about her son, who spent almost all the year working outside. In the end, she repeatedly urged Shi An to change his job and start a family quickly.

At his mother’s urging, Shi An chose to lay his cards on the table. He admitted that he chose this career partly because he wanted to escape. He frankly told his mother that he was born a homosexual and could not be attracted to the opposite sex, so he absolutely could not accept ruining the life of an innocent woman.

Shi An’s mother couldn’t accept it at first and even refused to contact Shi An, but her love for her child still prevailed.

She quietly learned about sexual orientation and same-sex relationships through various channels and finally accepted that Shi An was different from most people.

After getting his mother’s understanding, Shi An had his first homosexual lover and eventually married him, holding their wedding abroad. His mother also flew from China to attend the wedding.

Du Yan and Zhang Jing, as Shi An’s best friends, sat in the front row.

Shi An stood on the stage and gave a speech. He smiled and said: “This road has not been easy. I am very lucky to have my mama who understands me and my best friends who have always been with me.”

Zhang Jing and Du Yan stood up and hugged each other at the same time. They watched him exchange rings with his partner and promise to be together forever.

Everything around them gradually became blurry, and the dream ended.
