Chapter 118. Shushu, You Are So Fierce

Shen Heng didn’t know that everything he thought in his heart had been seen by Du Yan. Du Yan rubbed his temples and felt his head hurt even more. The man in front of him really regarded him as a powerless young boy.

Du Yan felt as if his head was about to explode. Shen Heng was still standing there with mixed feelings. Although Du Yan could not hear the specific content of his chaotic thoughts, he could feel the entanglement in them.

Du Yan decided to interrupt the other party. The radiation reaction was a bit serious now. He couldn’t control his ability. He couldn’t stand Shen Heng getting entangled any more: “Shen Heng, you are so amazing. Can you take me to see other places?”

Shen Heng looked at the other party’s sparkling eyes, and his first reaction was to agree, as if as long as Du Yan opened his mouth, he would not be able to refuse no matter how rude the request was.

Fortunately, the effects of the few glasses of wine he drank in the bar had dissipated, and reason had taken over again. Shen Heng controlled the urge to nod and thought in his heart how to refuse without hurting Du Yan’s feelings.

For Shen Heng, a tactful refusal was more difficult than cleaning up a city. He stood up and turned around twice in a somewhat anxious manner.

Du Yan was very patient. Shen Heng’s negative emotions gradually faded away and no longer made him feel so uncomfortable. He was very patient now.

Shen Heng finally organized his words and sat down. He looked at Du Yan and asked: “Why do you want to leave your home? The inside of the light curtain is the safest place on earth. The outside is not as good as you think.”

Du Yan was full of secrets, and now was not the time to tell Shen Heng about them. He thought for a moment and said: “I just find it boring. You don’t know how boring it is there. I keep seeing the same faces and the same scenery.”

Shen Heng laughed at the boy’s mentality and felt that Du Yan was not grateful for what he had. He straightened his face and said in a more serious tone: “You are really talking nonsense. Do you know that Pure Ones can not stand the radiation from the outside world?”

Du Yan curled his lips: “Shushu, you are so fierce.”

“…” Shen Heng was silent for a moment, then softened his tone: “If I hadn’t happened to go home today, no one would have known that you had died here.”

Du Yan smiled and said: “This just proves that we are destined to meet. I just ran here and met you. Besides, don’t you have anti-radiation drugs?”

Shen Heng sighed helplessly and said: “Anti-radiation drugs can not completely eliminate radiation. There will be a little bit of residual radiation each time. These slight radiation residuals accumulate in your body. They may not cause any impact for a while, but your lifespan will be greatly shortened.”

Shen Heng saw the young man in front of him, who looked well-fed, and thought that he might also know that there is a 100% pure anti-radiation drug.

He added: “Even if there is a 100% pure anti-radiation drug that can completely eliminate radiation, it is not easy to get. But you are really lucky to meet me.”

Shen Heng stood up and walked into the bedroom. After a while, he came out with a small metal box in his hand.

Shen Heng put the box on the table and pushed it towards Du Yan: “After injecting the medicine, I will take you back to the Resource Trading Center. After 24 hours of observation there, you can go home.”

Du Yan raised his hand and opened the box, and found a vial of anti-radiation medicine and a syringe inside. The higher the purity of the anti-radiation medicine, the clearer the color of the medicine.

The medicine in the vial in front of him had no color and was as clear as a piece of liquid crystal.

Du Yan’s eyes widened, and he said: “Is this a 100% pure anti-radiation agent? This is the first time I’ve seen it.”

Shen Heng nodded and repeated: “Well, after the injection, you can go home.”

Du Yan’s focus was not on this. He said: “This medicine is very precious. How could you be so generous to give it to someone you have only known for a few hours?”

Shen Heng looked at the other party’s eyes wide open, looking even more like a cat. He spoke with a smile in his tone: “I just think we are kindred spirits. I don’t have any use for this medicine anyway.”

Shen Heng lied. He can use the 100% pure anti-radiation agent, and it is the most useful thing for him.

Du Yan glanced at Shen Heng, closed the box, and pushed it back to Shen Heng, not saying anything: “I don’t want it. I’m not afraid of radiation. I want to see the outside world and don’t want to go home.”

Shen Heng didn’t take Du Yan’s words that he was not afraid of radiation seriously and just thought it was a child’s temper.

He could only continue to persuade helplessly: “Have you seen mutant creatures? Can you protect yourself? The world outside is not as peaceful as Homeland, and there are dangers everywhere. A teenager like you probably can’t even beat a mutant cockroach.”

Unexpectedly, Du Yan said as a matter of course: “If I can’t beat it, there’s still you. You look very strong.”

Shen Heng was stunned, but he did not feel any disgust in his heart. He even felt that if he was going to wander around, it was natural for him to protect the person in front of him.

However, Shen Heng could not agree. He was silent for a moment and then said: “I have seen many Pure Ones who wanted to see the outside world, but they all regretted it after being irradiated. Even after taking a large amount of anti-radiation drugs, they could not return to their previous appearance.”

Shen Heng looked directly into Du Yan’s eyes, his eyes were very determined: “No matter how much they regret, Homeland will no longer accept them. They can only live outside the home, looking at the light curtain and reminiscing about their previous carefree life. These irradiated Pure Ones have a short lifespan, and they die in their thirties or forties.”

Du Yan said: “If I have to stay in such a boring place for 60 or 70 years, I would rather choose to see the outside world. Living for 30 or 40 years is enough.”

When Shen Heng heard this, anger surged in his rarely emotional heart.

He frowned slightly but saw Du Yan shrink back slightly. Shen Heng instantly remembered that when he tensed his face, even Infected would retreat.

He was afraid of scaring Du Yan, so he could only suppress his anger and continue to persuade him in a gentle voice: “Life is always the most precious, you are still young…”

After all this entanglement, Du Yan finally realized that Shen Heng was indeed very stubborn and would never change his mind easily.

Even if Du Yan directly told Shen Heng that he was not afraid of radiation, the other party probably would not believe it and would just think it was an excuse he made up to leave. If he wants to convince Shen Heng, the exact reason must be known.

So, Du Yan stared into Shen Heng’s eyes and asked word by word: “Why did you insist on sending me back? Did you remember something when you saw me just now?”

Shen Heng was slightly stunned, looking at the other person’s black and white eyes, and couldn’t help but say: “I thought of a cat…”

A cat? Du Yan was a little confused and wanted to ask more, but suddenly, he felt dizzy, and his mind felt like the sky was falling apart.

He could no longer stay awake and fell headfirst onto the sofa. As he fell into darkness, Du Yan’s last thought was: Indeed the most powerful Infected, and can not be easily manipulated…

When Du Yan opened his eyes, he saw the pure white ceiling, and there was no sound around his ears. His fingers trembled slightly, and he subconsciously thought that he had returned to that terrible place.

Fortunately, Du Yan regained his senses quickly. He knew that he had just gone outside the light curtain, and it was impossible for him to return directly to his home. Judging from the surrounding environment and instruments, this should be the observation room of the Resource Trading Center.

The Resource Trading Center was not only a place for Pure Ones and Infected to trade, but also the only entrance and exit to areas inside and outside the settlements.

Pure Ones leaving their homeland must leave the trading center fully armed. When returning, they must stay in the observation room of the trading center for 24 hours to make sure they are not exposed to radiation before returning to their homeland.

Du Yan half sat up and glanced at the observation instrument at the bedside, which showed that his radiation level was zero. He looked at the time again, and it was about three hours since he fainted.

Du Yan felt a little puzzled. Even if he had a special physique and could purify radiation by himself, he would not be able to return to normal so quickly. Thinking of this, Du Yan lifted up his sleeves and found needle marks on his arms. These were traces of anti-radiation injections.

What happened after he fainted yesterday can be confirmed. Shen Heng injected him with a 100% pure anti-radiation drug and then found a way to send him to the observation room of the Resource Trading Center.

Du Yan cursed in a somewhat amusing and crying manner, ‘What a fool!’ He had finally managed to escape from homeland, but was sent back by Shen Heng.

However, Du Yan had to waste his kindness, and the anti-radiation medicine was wasted. Fortunately, he woke up in time.

Du Yan operated the instrument a few times, and after a while, the value on the instrument suddenly soared until it turned red and then sounded an alarm.

Two or three minutes later, a nurse wearing protective gear came in. She bent down slightly, wanting to check Du Yan’s condition, but was suddenly grabbed by the hand.

The nurse looked over in panic, but she only saw a pair of beautiful eyes. She felt a little dizzy and then fell into a trance.

The observation room welcomed distinguished guests today. The person in charge hurried downstairs from the office and happened to meet those people in special uniforms at the door.

These were all people from the First Research Institute of the Homeland No. 1. Almost all advanced technologies were the research results of the First Research Institute. Among them, the most important result that benefits all mankind was the anti-radiation agent.

The people in the First Research Institute had the highest authority in Homeland No. 1, and it was the first time that the person in charge of the observation room had been able to see these researchers at the top of the power circle.

He bowed with some trepidation and said: “Greetings several distinguished guests, may I ask if you have any instructions for me?”

The leading researcher had no intention of being polite. He got straight to the point and said: “We are here to look for someone. The information retrieved from the gene bank was uploaded from your side. Are there people who were sent from yesterday to now?”

The person in charge knew the seriousness of the matter from their expressions and stopped talking nonsense and led the way directly: “From yesterday to now, there have been people sent here. I will take you there.”

Everyone took the elevator upstairs. When the elevator opened, they saw a nurse in protective clothing standing at the door.

The nurse nodded to the person in charge, who didn’t have time to talk to her. He directly signaled the other party to move aside and then led the people in the research room behind him to the observation room in front.

However, when they entered Observation Room No. 7, they found a woman lying on the bed.

The person in charge was a little surprised and said: “That’s not right. There should be a man in observation room No. 7…”

The researchers reacted quickly and turned around to chase the nurse. When they reached the elevator, they found that the nurse had disappeared.

The leading researcher shouted sternly: “Seal off the trading center, he won’t leave so quickly, send people over to search level by level!”
